MEET THE TEAM 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ - Klay

Klay is a London-based naturalist whose love for the natural world was inspired early on by his childhood hero, Steve Irwin. Growing up just a stone's throw away from the big city, he developed a deep and wide-ranging passion for nature—fascinated by everything from birds and butterflies to whales and all that lies between. This enthusiasm led him to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology at university.

Over the years, Klay has worked extensively as a freelance ecologist, carrying out ecological surveys across diverse landscapes—from the Royal Parks of London to the remote Scottish Highlands. His work has included monitoring birds, small mammals, butterflies, and even invasive moth species.

Klay is especially passionate about rewilding and restoring natural processes in the UK. He is also committed to making wildlife watching more inclusive and accessible, particularly for people from ethnic minorities and disadvantaged backgrounds.

She is passionate about making conservation accessible to young people, something she explores in her role as Scottish Wildlife Trust Young Leader.

MEET THE 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ TEAM

Ewan - Season 1️⃣1️⃣

Although most of his family hailed from north of the border in Aberdeenshire, Ewan was brought up in 'Hadrian's Wall country’, north-east Cumbria. He was fortunate to be raised in the wild uplands of the north Pennines, on the second largest RSPB nature reserve where his father, John, was the conservation warden on the 12,000 acre site.

Ewan created Nature Scotland in 2015 as he was passionate about the potential of providing nature-based experiences that are a more powerful education, research and conservation tool.

Ewan has completed a BSc in Environmental Science and is the BTO Regional Rep for North Argyll and the Mull Bird Recorder.

Wildlife Media is another big passion of Ewan's, and he has had multiple video sequences featured on BBC Springwatch and in 2021/22 he worked as a camera operator/wildlife consultant for the popular BBC series. In 2026, Ewan was hired as a landscape camera operator for a BBC Winterwatch film on Mull.
