Finally got round to writing this one up. Less than an hour by direct train from Tonbridge. A historic walk coupled with a lovely seaside trip. The walk brings you up on East cliff near the castle ruins, back down to the Fishermans Beach, up on West Cliff , and then back along the beach side. This is a lovely. One hour by direct train from Tonbridge and our Garden of England BnB. It is relaxing to go by train, much Greener, and no parking fees to worry about.
My top tip....visit the cathedral for evensong and hear a wonderful choir for free. You will see the cathedral as a real working place of worship rather than a museum. Check times online, but usually 5.30pm.

With its extraordinary history and ecclesiastical grandeur, Kent’s murder mystery capital has much for the walker to savour on a day’s stroll

This is a circular walk from the Airbnb to the Plough at Leigh returning via Haysden Country Park. An excellent meal can be had at the Plough in a real oldey worldy pub. Illustrated guide to the walk available in the guesthouse, or can be emailed to you as a pdf

“Very easy to get to from the station, great room with en-suite bathroom. Hosts where very welcoming and Fran's walks are a great way to explore the area and learn little bits of history from the place.”
A very nice review from our guests from London over the weekend. They visited the castle on Saturday, and then followed the guided walk to Penshurst on Sunday. Lovely weather for it too!

This varied walk which starts right outside our front door remains the favourite with our guests, as well as ourselves. We like seeing the swans on the river, squirrels near the castle, ducks and geese at the lake. You can buy wild bird food to feed the birds at the lake.

A circular walk of less than 4 miles, starting outside the Bnb, to Tonbridge Castle and back via Haysden Country Park. Your walk may include a visit to the gatehouse (charge), and passes close to pub and tea shops.

A walk from Chaser Inn Shipbourne to Igtham Mote and back. This quite short walk is a 20 min bus journey away, and includes a pub and a tea shop! (also you can visit the historic Igtham Mote)

A 30 minute bus ride from Tonbridge....
A circular walk to the Bucks Head pub in Godden Green, where you can have lunch, through Knole deer park and back. Visit Knole House (charge)

40 minute train ride from Tonbridge....
A walk starting from Charring Cross station, and ending at London Bridge station, passing many of the iconic sites of Central London including Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, St James Park, Horse Guards Parade, Westminster, River Thames, London Eye, Tate Modern, St Pauls, Millenium Bridge, Globe Theatre, Tower Bridge and the Shard.

10 mins train ride from Tonbridge....
This walk is about 5 or 6 miles. Starting from Tunbridge Wells station, walk via the Pantiles and woodland to High Rocks. Here you can visit High Rocks (charge) and eat at the High Rocks Inn. Return by steam train to T Wells, and then back to the station along small paths that pass buildings of architectural interest and parkland.

A walk of almost 5 miles, starting from the Bnb, to Penshurst via Haysden country park and the flood barrier. You may include a visit to Penshurst Place (charge) or visit the pub or tea room in Penshurst. Return by the same route, or by taxi
