Topsham Ferry starts again on 4th April - all times are listed on the noticeboard on the right of the slipway path as you look out over the river. You’ll find this slipway opposite The Passage House Inn in Topsham.

This small passenger ferry takes you to the opposite bank. Once you’re across turn left and walk to the pub. The Turf is situated where the River Exe and Exeter canal meet. It’s a lovely walk and a fantastic pub.

🍃 February’s nearly done and spring was definitely in the air yesterday in Topsham.

Early evening stroll along the Goat Walk, Topsham’s famous raised walkway alongside the River Exe.

It’s part of a scenic loop which leaves the centre of town on The Strand past Dutch gabled houses. Once you turns inland from the end of the Goat Walk you follow country lanes, past RSPB Bowling Green March nature reserve, and back into town down Monmouth Hill, named after the Duke of Monmouth after he visited in 1685.

There are lots of books about Topsham past and present in The Plum. Why not spend a weekend exploring the town trails… and discover our links to Thomas Hardy and Vivien Leigh too!

🎄Topsham is gearing up for the festive season!

🎄The big Christmas lights ‘switched on’ goes ahead tonight with lots of activity, Morris dancing, mulled wine and a market.

🎄There’ll be late night shopping on Tuesday 3rd and 10th December so a great opportunity to support small local businesses.

🎄The best festive window display competition will see the town’s independents decking out their shop fronts in style. A walk around the windows before heading for a coffee and cake is always a good way to spend an hour in town.

🎄We’d better dig out The Plum decs soon!

Hello September | Hello autumn

If you’re thinking about winter break, maybe a Christmas Market (Exeter Cathedral Market runs from mid Nov - mid Dec) then we have good availability in second half of Nov and Dec.

The Plum is super cosy in winter with heating, rugs, books, games and lots to do on your doorstep.

NEW | Microwave… for years we’ve resisted putting a microwave in The Plum, thinking that it’s more like a hotel suite than an apartment, there are plenty of great places to eat, and as there’s no kitchen sink you leave your dishes in a box outside and we do your washing up!

But, we know guests love a takeaway and you might want to enjoy some soup, bread and maybe a lovely cheeseboard from our local cheese shop… so here it is!

It’s still not a full kitchen… just another gadget to make your stay more comfortable!

Sidmouth Folk Festival Week!

We’re only 30 minutes from Sidmouth. We popped to the internationally renowned festival for a few hours today. Topsham is a great base for a folk-focused few days… and handy for many other beautiful Devon places!

THE PLUM - sunny little self-contained guest suite in .

Sitting room, double bedroom and en-suite shower room.

Own garden and free off road parking. Just 10-15 mins walk to Topsham High St, quayside and river. Pubs, cafés and restaurants. Lots of good walks and the Route 2 riverside bike route close by.

10 mins walk to station on the Exmouth - Exeter rail line. (Exeter 15 mins).

Breakfast cereals, bread, milk, coffee and teas provided.

Good availability in Nov and Dec, and early next y
