Anyone want to count the rings on this Oak tree that fell into our garden last week...the council has spent the last 5 days clearing it, hopefully finishing tomorrow.

Went for a walk down to Torre Abbey last week (11th Century barn and monastery) 5 minutes walk from our holiday apartments ... they are doing a lot of work there to set it up for weddings etc. also have a cafe.

The old budgie shed in the garden is now being converted into a potting shed....the 21 budgies came with us from London ...

The old budgie shed in the garden is now being converted into a potting shed....the 21 budgies came with us from London to Torquay when we moved down 6 years ago....spent their first couple of months in a spare bedroom while we converted the shed into an aviary....there are now only 5 of them left so we have moved them into our flat within the main building.

Now moved all the plants down from the road level to the garden so the front road level is now tidy....just need to clea...

I'm in grumpy old man mode tonight....recently advertised a beautiful old ceiling lamp for £50 on Facebook marketplace and had no takers - had to take the light down due to failing recent electrical check - no earth in lights so have to have double earthed light fittings (lights without an earth terminal and a double square box earth sign).

After watching the antique buyer programmes on the BBC it should have been worth at least £300! but will end up in the bin.

Frustrated but accepted things have changed since covid - just tried ordering some parts for our 10 year old Hitachi str...

Frustrated but accepted things have changed since covid - just tried ordering some parts for our 10 year old Hitachi strimmer which would not start - waited about 2 weeks for a 3 day delivery from Amazon.
Chased the parts with the company only to find they were on back order...grass still growing....

Ended up buying a new Dewalt battery strimmer (with free battery drill) from Screwfix......

The Hitatchi has been through a lot of abuse and I was sad to see it go.....but cheaper just to replace than keep trying to replace parts to get it working again.
