Sadly, we had to say goodbye to our dear little old man Oscar yesterday. He was the most amazing companion and friend - the best you could have ever asked for. Life threw some big challenges at him but he bravely faced them all. Now he can rest. xx

The Torquay Trail of Lights is now fully operational and quite rightly drawing admiring crowds - the star of the show though is the projection on the front of Torre Abbey. This son et lumiere is quite simply breathtaking and to be honest on its own it beats the lights at larger resorts like Bournemouth...

At a time when so few young people have any awareness of the significance of D Day and of the sacrifices made by so many young men barely out of their teens - it is more important than ever that we commemorate them and tell their stories. They sacrificed themselves so that succeeding generations could be born and grow up in freedom. We take our freedom for granted now BUT a time may come when we realise just how precious it really is and how easily lost it can be.

Venturing further into the garden now the rain has stopped and what do I find? One of our banana trees has bananas. The tree itself is a bit battered from all the winter winds BUT yes we have bananas..

Sinister or cute? Yesterday, in our little pond I saw this. A toad cuddling a gold fish. The cuddle went on all day and the fish didn't seem overly bothered. So, is this an inter species love in or is the toad exhibiting anti social behaviour? Any amateur or professional naturalists have an answer?
