This piece of delightful whimsy and engineering magic was created by ‘The King of Toys’ Ron Fuller. Many of his pieces are in the V&A - ours was kindly donated and lives free to see in the Guild Hall, Totnes. (Donations welcomed of course!) 🪁🚂

Vire Island lies just beneath Totnes Bridge. 🌳 It's not a true island, but can feel like one, as the river rings it on three sides. It's both an easy and lovely place to picnic, with a small children's play park, a flat expanse for boules, and plenty of benches nestled in quiet spots. On a breezy day, the canopy of tall trees makes a soft rustling sound - it's the perfect relaxation soundtrack. 🧺 🍎🥖

The stunning The Old Forge is one of Totnes’s best-kept secrets 🥪🍰

Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, their Devonshire Cream Tea or traditional English High Tea is an experience not to miss. In summer, guests can relax beneath the shade of the trees on their lovely lawn while enjoying freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, delicate finger sandwiches, and prettily presented homemade cakes.

The owner adds homegrown touches straight from the garden, making every tea feel extra special. And if you’re celebrating - or simply treating yourself! - you can even add a glass of prosecco or two 🥂😇🍾

Advance booking is required (24 hours’ notice), but if the weather changes, there’s a bright conservatory to enjoy instead. 🌞
