If you book a Seal Walk with Friar, it'll be safe for both you and the beautiful wild seals 😍

The Seal Project is a Seal Conservation, Education & Identification charity based in South Devon montoring and protecting the seals seen around our South Devon Coastline and waterways.

"There where two reasons for doing this canoe journey. Many years ago the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) asked me to help find an endangered seal, only 300 are remaining. Another reason was to advertise and promote I.C.A.N. This is my own project to help nature.

Before my Greek sea journeys in an open wooden canoe I made several U.K. journeys including a 300 mile sea journey in 1976. Unfortunately this U.K. Journey turned out to be as dangerous as anything else I have done, including 3 months walking in the Himalayas. Those who know the U.K. coast between Torquay and the isle of Wight will know about Chesil Bank and tides at Saint Albans Head and other places.

Open canoes are normally only used on rivers and lakes. Even with a partial spray deck one wave could crush it. Before puting on outtriggers in 2010, if I fell out I know I could not get back in. This led to headlines in a news paper saying "Canoeist Defies Death Warning" because coast guards said one wave could sink me.

An open canadian canoe is not like a sea going kayak. I do these journeys for the extreme beauty, not danger. I wish it was not so dangerous."

Below are 2 photos from Friar's many walks, taken in 2008 and 2009.

There are so many beautiful places that Friar knows about, which perhaps not many people know about. His walks are very interesting, insightful and always fun!

This is what one visitor had to say:

"I have attended several beautiful, unforgettable and enjoyable Sunday Walks with Friar. I just wanna say thank you for your efforts, passion and enthusiasm and last but not least, for your friendship. You are a great guide!" Karin, Switzerland

My name is Friar.

I offer 𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗟 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗞𝗦 for UK and International visitors which last approximately 2.5 hours depending on the route, weather and your ability. Moderate fitness is an advantage. Some hills but don't worry, families do it. These walks are fun, not a race.

Below you will find photos taken on some of the walks.
