Pretty lovely if i’m honest ✨

Muchly helped by the surprise sunshine ☀️ Wow-wee, doesn’t it just make everything soooo much better? It’s like you get to live life in full colour for a while 🙌

M A R C H M O M E N T S ✨

A busy old month, which saw us welcoming in the start of Spring, longer days and (almost )the start of our new season

We reopen for 2025 this Friday (4th) and still have a few April stays available (message us if you want the deets 🙌)

Oh and also the sun finally has his hat back on! ☀️ 🙌

A little dump of all that March brought our way

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

These two are literally the best present any mum could have ✨

They make me proud every day and are my reason and motivation for all that I do

Yes at times they drive me up the wall, but boy oh boy do I love them 🫶

I know that the word ‘mum’ takes on many forms and so many meanings

March so far….

One word…BUSY

As we re-open for the new season at Easter each year, the month before tends to be our busiest, most stressful time of the year

This is when a LOT of jobs need to be completed in a pretty short space of time

Yes we could be more organised and get some jobs done when we close for the season in November each year…but in honesty…we tend to collapse in an exhausted heap at the end of each season. Then it’s the run up to Christmas and then it’s all about getting through January (not my favourite month)

By the time February and March come along there is typically a long list of jobs that need doing - renovations, painting & decorating, ground works, regulatory checks and servicing plus any improvements we wish to make

Plus - some jobs, like high pressure spraying decks and courtyards and deep cleaning each property, are best to do last minute

Sometimes I feel like I’m failing and will never get everything done in time and quite honestly I find this time of year, coupled with managing all the usual elements of family life, pretty god damn exhausting

We don’t have the budget or resources to get in lots of outside help. So we just have to plug away ourselves and ensure we have all hands on deck (including the boys)

It is honestly very FULL ON and this year we are trying to get everything done with my 96 year old Grandma staying with us for a while too

I feel guilty not being able to do more with her, and I’m sure she’s wondering how on earth I am STILL painting the properties

That’s just the reality of small business life though…peaks and troughs

ABOUT FEBRUARY

A month that started with jumping into life and beginning the preparations for our new season (we open at the start of April)

Then ended with a quick escape to snow topped mountains

1. Lou getting her hands dirty and the start of late winter gardening jobs (there are A LOT! 😂)

2. Boys getting stuck in with some weeding

3. Stripy skies

4. Sunrises to get you out of bed in the morning

5. Lou learning to grout..yes I know everyone is very bored of these images now - but I am super proud that I did it!

6. Benjamin building 3 new BBQs in record time

7. Lou walking the Bissoe trail and lapping up some vit D

8. Muddy walks in my boots (still waterproof)

9. When Spring sprang (but in our actual wheelbarrow and before we’d planted it all)

10. A sunny moment at Maenporth beach

11. A naughty escape to snowier scenes

12. And relax (heated outdoor swimming pool life - I want one!)

Happy Valley 💕

Albeit a bit late to the party…

As the duo behind the Boltholes (and despite spending this evening apart; one of us up in Plymouth watching our eldest play football ⚽️ and the other at home on movie-fest duties 🍿 (anything with ‘The Rock’ in it will do apparently! 😂) with our youngest), we thought we should still give a little nod to Valentines Day 💕

We’ve had a lot of them together over the years (I reckon 20+ now) and have (in honesty) never really made a big deal of it - it is after all just another day right?

Always fun looking back though. Makes you feel a lot of things but mostly

a) terrifically old

b) realise that you have no real photos pre social media and

c) clock that once you’ve had kids, there are literally zero photos of just the two of you together..period

I did manage to pull together a few of us over the years though - mostly of us having an awful lot of fun or visiting new places on holiday

Holidays and beaches- whether in Cornwall or abroad…are definitely a theme with us

Looking back, it makes me so happy to have been on all the adventures we have and to have visited so many wonderful places

So true that a picture speaks a thousand words and sparks a million memories 🫶

Wunderlust, a love of life by the sea and a desire to travel and see as much of the world as possible, will hopefully see us through many more Valentines Days together

Thanks for being a super-cool Valentine every day of the year Benjamin (except when you are grumpy) and for always bringing the fun, no matter what we do!

INTRO TIME

The start of the year seems as good a time as any, to say 👋 and for those who don’t know us, to reintroduce ourselves

🌊 We are The Mosers, a family of 4, plus our crazy Beaglador Lola, who upped sticks to relocate from the SE to Cornwall in 2020, with the dream of starting a small, sustainable tourism business

🌊 We were looking for a slower existence in a place (Cornwall) with which, we already had a long term love affair

🌊 In our previous life we took many holidays in Cornwall, initially as a young couple, then as dog owners and ultimately with young children in tow. We feel pretty well versed in what it is to be a tourist in Cornwall

🌊 Running a Cornish holiday let business is genuinely a dream come true for us and it has allowed us to move on from our previous hectic, often stressful and frequently London based work & lifestyle

🌊 Despite having to navigate more home schooling and further lockdowns when we first moved here AND living in very close quarters for a while, the children have settled like a dream

🌊 Regardless of how it appears through the lens of social media, life running a holiday let is not stress free, it is a hard slog maintaining the site and properties and as we do everything from, marketing, to laundry, to finance ourselves, it can be pretty time consuming. I (Lou) always start every single year saying, ‘what if we don’t get any bookings this season?’ despite being fully booked for the past 4 years and only having ever received 5 star reviews! Imposter syndrome still reigns supreme with me! 🙈

🌊 We both try unbelievably hard to keep our business environmentally sustainable and are always looking for ways to lessen our carbon footprint - from foraging firewood on site, to establishing a water harvesting system, to maintaining hedgerows and wild areas as important natural habitats

🌊 We pride ourselves in offering affordable yet beautifully appointed properties & go out of our way to help guests to curate their perfect stay

CHRISTMAS 2024

1. When the house was finally Christmas ready (think this was about 3 days before Christmas)

LOVING CORNWALL

For a very very long time over here 🫶

From the early days visiting family when Ben and I were still babies ourselves and in a new relationship

To our very first wedding anniversary spent here without the slightest knowledge, that 13 years later (with 2 kids and a dog in tow) we’d actually get to call Cornwall OUR HOME

There have been weddings, births, christenings, family get togethers and beach meet ups with special friends (the cool house on Hayle beach with ‘that deck’ definitely clocks a top spot!)

Holidays…in the early days, with me on maternity leave, flying solo with a baby and toddler and Ben coming out to meet us whenever he could escape work.
Literally packing in every minute that we possibly could, in the place that has always somehow called to us 🫶

Housesitting for my sister in law, borrowing friends houses, then ultimately getting to stay in my mother in law’s little cottage for literally every holiday we had

3 dogs and so many walks, hikes and tromps

And finally, in 2020 our little dream came true and we at last had the opportunity to settle here and to raise our beautiful boys in this magical spot of paradise

So yes, maybe we weren’t born here…maybe it’s not in our blood…but it’s definitely in our soul and Cornwall…boy do we LOVE YOU
