The Hyde Cornwall. An invitation to escape.

The Hyde Cornwall. An invitation to escape. Secluded treetop cabin in beautiful Cornwall. The Hyde is special. Every inch of the treehouse, from the shell to the interiors, is masterfully crafted by hand.

Overhanging dense woodland, on a privately owned World Heritage site, The Hyde is perfect for couples or solo travellers. Hidden away in dense woodland far from the world, it is a perfect retreat for a couple or solo traveller. It isn’t just a treehouse or a cabin but an experience; an invitation to escape. From the cosy Bohemian interiors to the luxurious appliances and linens (think Heston Blume

ntal barbecue and Bose sound system,) there is plenty to love. Step outside after breakfast on the glass covered deck and you can spend the day swinging on the hammocks, listening to birdsong, or sunbathing on the wicker loungers in the private garden. Revel in the coastal walks across the nearby beach at Porthtowan until you reach the cliffs with St Ives in one direction and St Agnes in the other. Cycle around the villages across the UNESCO World Heritage site on which our property is located. If you’re a surfer, or would be surfer, we own the renowned Tris Surf Shop in Porthtowan and can arrange private lessons and all the kit.

Our 10 Favourite Things to Do in St Agnes ✨

As Porthtowan locals, we’re always popping over to St Agnes; it’s just up the road and packed with charm, creativity, and lovely things to do. Here are a few of our absolute faves:

1. A coastal stroll to Trevaunance Cove – especially good at low tide with a pasty in hand from
2. Lunch or sunset drinks at – pint with a view? Yes please.
3. Coffee & pastry at – need we say more?
4. Soaking up the views from Wheal Cotes – an unbeatable golden hour spot.
5. Browsing at – some of our favourite jumpers and jackets are from here.
6. Dips at Trevellas Porth – peaceful, wild, and often quieter than the main beach.
7. Stocking up at the – good for little treats and nibbles 🌎
8. Relaxing with a crab sandwich at - Highly recommend sitting out in their garden.
9. Exploring the old mine stacks – dramatic, cinematic, and SO Cornish.
10. Sitting down for a cocktail at – friendly chats, local vibes, and delicious drinks.

If you’re visiting Porthtowan, a walk up to John’s Pumping Engine House is well worth your time. This striking landmark, once part of the historic Tywarnhayle Mine, stands proudly on the hillside and commands the local skyline. Dating back to 1861, the tower rises an impressive 70 feet and offers a glimpse into Cornwall’s rich mining heritage.
