Light and airy first floor apartment with wonderful sea views, located in the laid back coastal village of Porthtowan on the northwest Cornwall coast. Just a short stroll from Porthtowan’s beautiful beach, stunning coastal walks, beachside bar restaurant, cafe, village pub, play park, fish and chips, surf school, village and beach shops.

15 - 30 minutes from the coastal resorts of Perranporth and Newquay, the beautiful cathedral city of Truro and the lovely seaside town of St Ives.

Half term has become available again at Seashells due to a cancellation. Now reduced to £600, Seashells sleeps up to 4 and has parking. It is very close (strolling distance) to the beach, coastal walks and village amenities, including several lovely places to eat and village shop for supplies. The village will be much quieter by then and it’s a great time of year for autumn strolls and cosy nights in with fish and chips, or out at Porthtowan’s lovely pub or beachside restaurants. Or watch the waves from the comfort of Seashells’ sofa if the weather isn’t kind.

EDIT: September now fully booked.

I thought it would be useful to list our remaining availability at Seashells before the end of October when we finish holiday letting.

We have the weeks from the 13 and 20th September - reduced to £600.

From 5th October we are offering short breaks of 3 to 7 nights (or more if you desire 🙂), at £350 - £500 (sorry half term week is already booked).

Info, prices, availability and online booking are available on our website - as regular followers and previous guests already know, we sleep up to 4, are pet-free, have amazing sea views, our own parking and a great location very close to the beach and village pub and restaurants.

September and October are still looking quite empty at Seashells - I’m surprised as this can be a lovely time of year to visit. If you’re looking for an autumn break by the sea you couldn’t ask for better - you can watch the waves and spectacular skies from the comfort of the sofa, take a refreshing beach or cliff top stroll and enjoy a meal in Porthtowan’s lovely village pub or beachside restaurants, all on your doorstep. For anyone who missed my previous post, sadly we are closing our doors at the end of October, for a number of reasons. I always said I would holiday let Seashells for ten years and then reassess - having done so I have now decided to move forward in a different direction.

If anyone would like to come and stay one last time, we still have availability in September and October. Come and enjoy our fab sea views and close proximity to the beach and village restaurants. We have parking and sleep up to 4 people.

I hope everyone is enjoying this lovely weather we’re having. It gives me hope that the sun will continue to shine and we will have a lovely late summer and autumn in Cornwall - it can be absolutely gorgeous when that happens.

Announcement - some of our regular guests are already aware but having given it a lot of thought I have decided not to continue running Seashells as a holiday let next year, for a number of reasons.

The work involved has become too much on top of my day job and other responsibilities, and the holiday let market has become more difficult, with oversupply making it harder to attract enough bookings to be profitable, and much tighter regulation meaning the costs and workload involved have increased year on year.

I will probably let Seashells to a couple or small family instead, to support someone local to remain in the village. The planned loft conversion is still on the cards, but I may wait a year or two before going ahead with it. (I may holiday let in the future, after the loft conversion is done).

In the meantime we are still taking bookings for September and October at www.seashellsporthtowan.co.uk. (Sleeps 4, parking, pet free, wonderful sea views, very close to the beach and village pub/shop/beachside restaurants).

It has been a wonderful 10 year of running Seashells for people to enjoy as a holiday let - here are a few ‘then and now’ pictures to show how the apartment and village have changed over that time.

Our Story

Seashells Porthtowan is a light and airy first floor apartment with wonderful sea views from the living room and kitchen windows, located in the laid back coastal village of Porthtowan on the Cornwall north coast, between Perranporth and St Ives. Seashells sleeps up to 4 in a double and small bunk bed room, family bathroom and open plan kitchen/dining/living area overlooking the beach. Bedlinen and towels (not beach towels), WiFi, well equipped kitchen, washing machine, tumble dryer, books, games and DVDs are provided. There is allocated parking right outside. The apartment is in a quiet location a stone's throw from Porthtowan's beautiful blue flag surf and family beach. The beachside bar restaurant, cafe, village pub, play park and village shop are all a short stroll away. Surf school and hire are available in the village and sea kayaking tours operate nearby. There are glorious cliff walks from the apartment. Porthtowan is about less than minutes from the coastal resorts of Perranporth and Newquay, the beautiful cathedral city of Truro and the lovely seaside town of St Ives.
