This eight-night journey moves through some of southern Africa's least crowded wilderness, starting deep in the Okavango Delta at Mokolwane Camp, where leopard density is among the highest recorded anywhere in Africa and the nearest other camp is nowhere in sight. From there it's on to Meno a Kwena, perched above the Boteti River, where the game viewing happens from your tent as easily as out on a drive, and where a walk with the Ju! Hoansi San community adds a cultural layer few itineraries reach.
The trip closes at Waterberry Zambezi Lodge, close enough to Victoria Falls for an easy visit but tucked away from the noise of the town, with days given over to river cruises, fishing and birding. It's a trip built for travellers who want genuine seclusion and space over polish, with just enough contrast between stops to keep each one distinct.

Tucked amongst a scattering of Mokolwane palms in the vast Xudum Concession, Mokolwane Camp is located in leopard country in an area with one of the highest recorded densities of the big cat anywhere in Africa. Open floodplains, palm islands and seasonal channels draw large herds of elephant and buffalo, with lions and wild dogs moving through the same territory. Over 180,000 hectares of private wilderness, with no other camps nearby, give you both serious wildlife viewing and real solitude. Just seven canvas tents make up the camp itself, simple and unshowy against its surroundings, with days spent on game drives or seasonal mokoro and boating trips, and evenings given over to the quiet of the delta. You can only reach it by helicopter, so the arrival is part of the experience.

Makgadikgadi National Park (3 nights)
3 Nights at Meno a Kwena โ Luxury Tent | Fully Inclusive
Meno a Kwena sits on a rocky clifftop above the Boteti River, on the edge of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, and the game viewing starts before you've left your tent. Elephants file down to the water below, antelope come to drink, and predators keep their distance but not far off. Ten tents are strung along the escarpment, each one a private box seat over the riverbed. From here you can also join members of the Ju! Hoansi San community from Xai Xai village, on the border between Botswana and Namibia in the Kalahari, for a gentle guided walk displaying their hunter-gatherer way of life, shaped by thousands of years living alongside the wildlife around them.

Waterberry Zambezi Lodge sits on the banks of the Zambezi, close enough to Victoria Falls and Livingstone for an easy day trip, but far enough away to escape the helicopters, microlights and general buzz of the town. Just seven rooms make up this small, informal lodge, the kind of place guests return to after a day exploring the Falls for river cruises, island picnics, fishing and birding with knowledgeable guides. Many visitors take a village visit to the nearby community, where Waterberry has built and continues to run, giving a genuine, uncommercial glimpse of local life. With the Univisa now covering both Zambia and Zimbabwe, crossing between the two to see both sides of the Falls is straightforward.
