Had a few hours in the very charming Middleham yesterday, it’s somewhere which might not be on your radar but definitely worth a visit.

Middleham Castle dates back to 1190 so perfect for history buffs.

It’s also famous for its Racing Stables, which have been around for over 200 years, you will almost certainly see world class racehorses returning to their stables after morning exercise on Middleham Gallops.

I popped into the village shop and had to smile at the huge ( and very unlike rural Yorkshire) choice of Champagne on offer …..
