The views from Tynemouth, at the mouth of the river Tyne are impressive. It's worth walking past the entrance to Tynemouth priory, up the rampart and along the perimeter castle walls for stunning expansive views. Cafes, independent shops and restaurants aplenty in the historic village too: all originally part of Northumberland.
