Lisa Ratcliffe Personal Travel Counsellor Lisa Ratcliffe - Personal Travel Counsellor My name is Lisa and I would really appreciate the opportunity to become your personal Travel Counsellor.

I have 30 years’ experience working in the travel industry, most of which were spent in an independent agency and now, as a Travel Counsellor, that ethos of independence is able to continue. I have visited many countries over the years… as a single person, in a couple, and now as a mother, so can give advice from many different perspectives. Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, the Caribbean, Singap

ore, Hong Kong, America, much of Europe and many more destinations feature on my list of visited countries. As your personal Travel Counsellor I can help make your dreams come true by completing all the research and arrangements for you. A simple telephone call, Facebook message or email from you to discuss your needs is all it takes. From there I can take the reins and guide you, with my knowledge, experience and personal attention, to book the perfect destination for you. Although the term 'Counsellor' suggests an advice service, my service stretches far beyond that. I do not *just *advise - I book everything for you and remain a constant support to you in the run up to your holiday, whilst you are away and until you are home again! This undertaking is made easier for me by the award-winning technology offered by Travel Counsellors. I have access to some 3000 suppliers, which can be searched quickly and efficiently to provide the exact solution to your requirements, be it a tailor-made ‘Round the World’ trip, a flight only, a honeymoon, a luxury hotel break or a cottage in Scotland. Customer service is of paramount importance to me and I appreciate that not everyone may be available to discuss their plans during office hours. This is exactly why I offer the flexibility of evening and weekend accessibility at a time to suit you…and I can guarantee that it will always be me on the end of the line (my own holidays excepted!) You will not be passed from pillar to post, or left in a telephone queuing system, wasting your time! If you would like access to offers, information and inspiration then please like and follow this page. I look forward to hearing from you soon and to arranging some fantastic holidays for you!

We’re in the midst of planning our main holiday for this year, and as usual, I’m finding myself a bit indecisive—I am my own worst client!
We're also already starting to discuss ideas for our trip to Australia next year, but this year’s destination is still up in the air. We've come up with a few possibilities, though, and I’d love your thoughts. Here are some of the ideas we are mulling over...

1. Returning to our favourite hotel in Gran Canaria, a place we absolutely love and always feel at home.

2. Exploring Italy—specifically Vesuvius, Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, and Capri. It’s a dream mix of history, culture, and stunning landscapes.

3. Venturing to Bucharest and the Transylvanian countryside to experience a little of the mystical side of Eastern Europe.

4. Heading to the island of Madeira for its lush scenery, volcanic mountains, and unique charm.

5. Visiting Vietnam and Cambodia to immerse ourselves in the rich history and vibrant cultures of Southeast Asia.

6. A Norwegian Fjords cruise, to take in some of the world’s most spectacular natural beauty from the comfort of a ship.

7. A multi-centre trip through southern Spain—Seville, Cordoba, and Granada—to explore the stunning architecture, history, and of course, the food!

8. And last but not least, thanks to "Race Across the World", a tour of China, which is now firmly on the list as a potential adventure.

If you had to choose, which one would you pick? It’s tough because each destination offers something completely different, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on where you’d go first!

HEADS UP!

Do you ever stand up the moment the plane hits the ground?
It might be worth thinking twice about doing that on your next flight to Turkey!

📌 As of May 2025 Turkey introduced a new aviation regulation
👉 Standing before the aircraft comes to a complete stop can now result in an instant $70 (£50) fine.
And it's already being enforced.
If you're traveling to Turkey, or even transiting through Istanbul - you need to know this.
Under the directive issued by the Turkish Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), passengers who unbuckle their seat belts, stand up, or open overhead compartments before the plane has fully parked at the gate may face fines of up to 2,603 Turkish lira (approximately $67).

Baltic Capitals Tour - taking in Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius.
I have just had a solo, female traveller return from this tour and it was he perfect way to explore these fascinating cities...especially as a lone traveller.

Long-held traditions and breath-taking sights await in Eastern Europe’s most intriguing areas, from forested coastlines and river valleys to the historic cities of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Diversity is at the heart of the Baltics’ most beloved cities with historic landmarks and charming old towns meeting rapidly developing modern metropolises. With stops in each of the Baltic nations, discover a trio of cultures, histories and languages which differ from region to region. From the legacy left behind by Estonia’s Hanseatic rulers in Tallinn’s former guild houses to Latvia’s widely celebrated pagan traditions and Lithuania’s Russian heritage, each Baltic state offers rewarding exploration amongst truly unique locales.

Advance Notice!

I am going on holiday!
Just a UK trip to Northumberland this time, with our trip abroad later in the year yet to be agreed upon!
We have been twice, previously to this stunning county, but it keeps drawing us back.
This time, I have discovered Barter Books - one of the largest, and loveliest second-hand books shops in Britain - and the whole holiday is based around that!!
Mark has a love of cows and he is very keen to visit the rare Chillingham Wild Cattle, so we will both have our interests covered.
We will also be re-visiting the incredible Lindisfarne/Holy Island and its fascinating causeway, covered by the tide twice a day; and the stunning Alnwick Garden, as well as the beautifully wild Northumberland beaches.

I will be out of the office from 07 June and will return on 16 June.
My colleague, Donna, will be covering my business in the event of any emergencies.

If you are maybe starting to consider contacting me to enquire about a trip, then please get in touch soon so that I am able to help you before I go away.

My clients recently returned from a trip to Dubai and agreed to me sharing some of their photos.
They managed to very easily fill a week, with all the fun activities there are to do in Dubai.
Desert safaris, Ferrari World (although technically in Abu Dhabi, it is easily accessible from Dubai), where you can also ride the fastest rollercoaster in the world ; SeaWorld, Arte Museum, TopGolf Dubai and much more...including some amazing looking food!

In a remarkable seafront setting...the intimate Mochlos Blue Boutique Hotel, Crete.

Recently refurbished , Mochlos Blue ticks all the boxes – location, style and comfort alongside some beautifully individual touches that set it apart. The final ingredient is service, and a stay at Mochlos Blue comes with the promise of a warm and hospitable welcome from the owner George and his parents who have been hosting guests here for over 20 years.

Just six rooms enjoy all this fabulous spot has to offer; each simply but elegantly furnished, with supremely comfy double beds (three of which can be converted to a twin on request) and opening onto a balcony or terrace with uninterrupted sea views. Breakfast is served down on the pool terrace where the sound of the sea lapping against the shore is both soothing and uplifting in equal measure. It’s a hop and a skip to the sunbeds if a day of quiet repose is just what the doctor ordered and though there is no direct access to the sea from here, it’s only a short walk into Mochlos where the lovely little beach nestles beneath the charming array of cafés and tavernas.

For prices and availability, drop me an email or give me a call.
