There’s no better way to celebrate St Piran’s Day than with a proper Cornish pasty looking at a proper Cornish harbour. What do you love most about this special county?

The only constant is change.
Beautiful morning here in Cornwall. Very few rain showers and a cold north westerly wind are pretty easy to shelter from and definitely worth it down on the beach. I'm always amazed at how much the dunes change throughout the winter and I guess the wetter and windier it is the more dramatically they change.

Recently voted Best Pub in Cornwall, you’ll find the Pickwick Inn a 10 minute walk down the quiet country lane from the back of Gwent Cottage. It’s a dog friendly, cosy, old fashioned pub, with the light and airy Oliver’s Restaurant out back, enjoying remarkable views of Padstow and the Camel Estuary.

The Ring O’Bells is the pub just next door to us. Described by one of our guests as a “phenomenon” Chris and Sue who run the place know about hospitality. Home cooked fare and well kept beer are their specialities. Drop your bags and head straight over after a long drive to reset yourself to Cornish time, in no time.

Fancy gourmet but can’t quite stretch to Rick Stein or Paul Ainsworth? We recommend Barnaby’s, also in Padstow. They create wonderful sharing plates, share 9 courses if you like, why not?!

Butterflied Cornish Mackerel with mojo verde and charred lime.
