Spotlight on Belize

Belize is about the size of Wales and as it was formerly British Honduras it's an English speaking country making it great for family trips. With the winter soltice upon us - we have been reflecting on an amazing summer and would like to share this incredible review from the Roberts multigenerational family 25 day trip taking in 3 countries - Panama, El Salvador and Nicaragua. His 5 * review is as follows:- 'Everything about this trip was just perfect. After discussing with Pioneer what would work for us, they came up with an itinerary that was ideally calibrated for a mixed family group ranging from 7 to 75, with engaging activities that everyone could enjoy, and just the right amount of daily travelling and rest days. It was particularly pleasing to see how much the trip contributed to local communities and we all loved the many activities included. . A particular word on the guides who were all brilliant - very knowledgeable, patient, and such good company. And I don't know who else apart from Pioneer offers trips to El Salvador, but it is well worth adding it to any itinerary - such a beautiful country and people, and with so much to do. Such a good experience with Pioneer, from initial planning to all aspects of the trip itself, and in-country communication, that I would have no hesitation taking another big trip with them

Looking ahead - Christmas 25

We had a number of 'last minute' queries for those of you who wanted to escape the grey skies of Blighty this Christmas! The pressure's always on a this time of year and sometimes taking a break as an individual, couple or family can seem like a great idea. But, it can also be costly and availability can be at a premium. If you think you might want to get away next year or....you've missed the boat, plane, tuk-tuk etc this year its not too early to start planning for Christmas 2025. Flights can generally be booked a year in advance and will generally be more economical. We also stand a much better chance of getting your first choice accommodation too!

A UNIQUE PANAMA EXPERIENCE

Panama is often promoted as ‘more than just a canal.’ Indeed, it’s a line we’ve used more than once or twice. When I first went to Panama in the early ’90s, my interests were not first and foremost with engineering projects – no matter how impressive. However, after a visit to the wonderful Canal Museum and a half-day canal transit, I was hooked and have been ever since.

We’ve been on a jungle riverboat, kayaked in tributaries, and tried stand-up paddle-boarding on it, but if you want a truly magnificent experience, our Behind the Scenes look at the Canal can be included in any of our trips. Prices vary, and we have to request permission, but this insight into the history, building, and current workings of the canal is a unique experience – whether you’re fascinated by engineering or just want to know more about one of the world’s most important waterways.

I first went to Colombia in 1994 and really only saw Bogota and Cartegena. I had always wated to return and see more. In September this year I got the opportunity and was blown away by the wonderful kindness of all the people I encountered (too many too mention!) and their enthusiasm and drive to promote natural and sustainable tourism in the most biodiverse country in the world.
Colombia’s diversity is evident from its Caribbean beaches to Andean mountains. The Amazon rainforest teems with life, while the Llanos plains stretch endlessly. Its cities blend modernity with colonial charm, like Bogotá , Cali, Cartegena and Medellin. The people, music and culture are as diverse as the land and seascapes!

Great 5* review from some repeat clients who have just returned from a tailormade trip to Brazil with us.
'Pioneer organised a wonderful trip to Brazil with a complicated itinerary with a lot of internal flights and everything was perfectly organised. All the transfers and tours were excellent.
