What a summer it’s been at Barsham. Long, light-filled days, wildflowers in the meadows, doors thrown open and evening that seemed to stretch on forever. We’re not quite ready to say goodbye to it all just yet…

But there’s something lovely about the shift into a new season. The golden fields start to give way to autumn colour, walks across the estate are cooler, fires lit again and the promise of slow weekends tucked away in the countryside.

Summer, you’ve been wonderful. But there’s still so much to look forward to 🍂

Wednesday 2nd September is our last day of the season! What better way to spend the final day of the summer holidays than out with the whole family?

Conquer the maze, play some games, race a tractor, walk the woodland nature trail and enjoy a family friendly lunch from our seasonal café. We hear the beer’s pretty good at The Taproom too…

The Loose Box is one of our smaller barns and has everything you need for a proper escape to the countryside.

Sleeping four, it’s just as suited to a couple wanting a little extra space as it is to friends or a family. There are two bedrooms, one king and one that can be made up as a king or twin, along with an open-plan kitchen and living space, a huge landscape window and your own private courtyard.

And dogs are very welcome too.

As summer begins to give way to autumn, this is the kind of place we want to retreat to. Days spent walking the estate or heading out to the North Norfolk coast, followed by cosy evenings back at the barn as the light fades outside.

Later in the season, when the countryside quietens and winter edges closer, it becomes an even better excuse to slow down, settle in and enjoy having nowhere else to be.

Small, peaceful and tucked away among the estate’s historic flint buildings, The Loose Box is a lovely little home from home for the changing seasons.

Perfect for all ages, with oodles of space to run around and a maze that’s actually two mazes (it’s that big), you can’t beat it as a day out for the whole family.

Once you’ve navigated the maze, follow the nature trail down to The StackYard for lunch and a glass of something refreshing 🍺
