Buying a new build? Your move doesn’t always happen all in one day.

Completion dates can move and sometimes you need to be out of your current home before the new one is quite ready.

It’s never an ideal situation but it doesn’t have to throw your whole move into chaos and stress.

Having your removals and storage under one roof means that we can move you out, keep everything safe and bring it back when you finally get your new keys.

When your dad owns a removals company, summer holidays look a little different. 😂

It has taken me a minute to get round to posting our new recruit!!

Richard managed to recruit himself a very small new member of the Lyons team over the summer.

A few mornings at the yard. A few trips out with Dad. Plenty of time spent around the vans. And OBVIOUSLY taking his position on the tail lift very seriously.

Lyons has always been a family business and that's still a huge part of who we are today.

The business might be changing, growing, diversifying. We're bringing in new systems, growing the storage side and modernising how we work.

But it'll always be built around people and apparently, we're starting the training (very) early.

Don't worry, he's not doing your house move just yet. 😂

Completion dates have a realllyyy good habit of sneaking up on you and then looking beautifullyyy simple on paper.

Then the chain moves, your buyer needs to complete, your new property isn't ready, a new build gets delayed or suddenly you've got a gap between one set of keys and the next.

The good news is that your entire home doesn't need to become another problem to solve.

We can move your belongings out, keep them safely in storage and deliver them to your new home when you're actually ready for them.

It means you can deal with the property side without wondering where on earth the sofa, beds, boxes and everything else are going to live in the meantime.

A move doesn't always have to be House A → House B in one day.

Sometimes the sensible route is House A → Lyons → House B.

We've got you either way.

A sofa, six boxes and a wardrobe can look very straightforward in a photograph.

Until the sofa won't go through the front door.

The wardrobe needs dismantling.

The van can't park outside.

There's a staircase to a basement that nobody mentioned.

And 'a few bits in the garage' turns out to be another half a van.

This is why where ever possible we insist on doing a proper removals quote - it isn't only about how much stuff you've got.

We're looking at access, volume, parking, stairs, fragile or specialist items, dismantling, distance, timings, the size of vehicle and how many people the job needs.

Imagine you sending us a list for your 7 bed move and us turning up in one 18 tonne van with a crew of three and we really needed a 18 tonne van and a 3.5 tonne van to tranship your items because the van is too big to get to the property...it's just not worth thinking about from our perspective.

A good survey isn't us trying to make the process complicated, it's our process because it's so important.

It's us doing the thinking before moving day, it is the industry standard and it is there so that you're far less likely to be dealing with surprises when the keys are due and the house needs to be empty.

When you get a removals quote, it can be really easy to look at the final number and think: van + a few people + a day of work.

But when you're booking with an established, professional company - that's not really what you're paying for.

You're paying for someone to work out what vehicle(s) the job actually needs. How many people need to be there. What needs dismantling. What needs protecting. How access will work. How the van needs loading so your belongings arrive in the same condition they left.

You're paying for the right equipment, proper protection, insurance, experience and a team that knows what to do when moving day doesn't go exactly to plan. (did you know that your property isn't yours after 1pm? No? We do a blog post on that for you soon)

After nearly 40 years of doing this, we can tell you: moving day very rarely comes down to simply putting furniture in a van.

You're paying for everything that makes the day go right and for someone to take a little bit of stress off when it doesn't.

The housing market has felt quieter lately, it was actually confirmed in the industry news "The Mover" that we receive from The Guild this month... but we have also noticed that doesn't mean people are doing nothing with their homes.

We're seeing more and more people staying put, improving what they've already got, renovating, extending or simply waiting a little longer before their next move.

This shift is 100% worth worth talking about from a removals business perspective, because lots of our customers are using us for other services that just straight forward moves, in short - you don't have to be moving house to need us.

Having a kitchen ripped out?
We can collect the furniture you need out of the way, store it securely and bring it back when you're ready.

Between properties?
Your belongings can stay with us until the keys are finally in your hand.

Downsizing but not ready to decide what stays and what goes?
Safe containerised storage gives you breathing room whilst you decide.

Straight forward house removals will always be the foundation of Lyons. But really, our job has always been bigger than getting a house from A to B and sometimes we need to talk about it - so you can talk about it to.

We’ve got two full-time, permanent positions available at Lyons Removals & Storage and we’re looking for two great people to come and join us.

The first one is...

A REMOVALS TEAM MEMBER - 16+

No experience needed. No driving licence needed. We’ll train you properly and teach you everything you need to know.

You just need to be willing to work, learn, get stuck in and be able to get yourself to Birchwood for a 7am start.

The Second one is...
REMOVALS TEAM MEMBER / 3.5T DRIVER - 25+

For this one, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and be confident driving a 3.5 tonne van.

The 25+ requirement is due to our company vehicle insurance, but again, you don’t need previous removals experience. We’ll train you.

Both positions are:

🚚 Full-time and permanent
📍 Based from Birchwood, Warrington
📅 Monday–Friday
⏰ 7am starts
🎓 Full training provided
⚡ Available to start ASAP

There’s the occasional Saturday with notice and the odd overnight stay when we’re doing a longer-distance move.

And you don’t need a CV to apply.
