A very big happy 9th birthday to Random Cafe - Sustainable Watford !
Located on Garsmouth Way, Watford, they've saved over 128 tonnes of food from landfill in their mission to have people rethink food waste and about sustainability. They offer an amazing range of cakes, sandwiches, drinks and delicious sweets.
It's fantastic to have an independet not-for-profit with such a delcious offering in our town.
They're set in a wonderful garden where they grow a lot of their own produce as well. Head to their page and website to see what's going on and perhaps volunteer with them as well!

St Marys will be holding a special day, including bell tower tours and information on their history on Saturday 12 September from 2026.
No need to pre-book you can just show up from 12pm until 2pm.

🌿 Looking for a rewarding way to spend time outdoors and give back to nature? Join Watford Council and Groundwork East for a River Colne Volunteer Day at Oxhey Park.

Whether you're an experienced conservation volunteer or keen to try something new, this hands-on event is a great opportunity to help protect and restore the River Colne, one of the UK's rare and precious chalk streams.

Choose from a range of activities:

🌳 12.30pm to 1.45pm – Tree Maintenance
💧 2pm to 3.15pm – Berm Maintenance
🦋 3.30pm to 4.30pm – Riverfly Survey Demonstration

Volunteer for a single session or stay for the whole afternoon. All equipment is provided, and Groundwork East's experienced team will be on hand to guide and support you throughout.

It's a great chance to:
✅ Learn new conservation skills
✅ Meet like-minded people
✅ Support local biodiversity
✅ Make a real difference to the future of the River Colne
