There’s plenty going on in Wells this weekend!

🖼️ Wells Art Contemporary kicks off at Wells Cathedral on Saturday 10 Oct and runs until 7 November, showcasing more than 100 artworks.

🛍️ Wells Saturday Market returns from 9am to 3pm, with plenty of stalls to explore.

🎨 Wells Museum’s new Craft Market arrives on Saturday, from 11am to 3pm.

🍎 Wells Food Festival returns on Sunday 11 October, bringing more than 200 stalls, delicious food and drink, and plenty of entertainment!

🦢🔔 Did you know Wells has bell-ringing swans?

Yes, you read that right! The famous swans at The Bishop’s Palace have been ringing a bell for their food for more than 170 years.

The tradition dates back to the 1850s, when one of the Bishop’s daughters was apparently bored and decided to teach the family of swans to pull a string and ring a bell when they wanted feeding!

And remarkably, the tradition has continued ever since, being passed down through generations of both humans and swans!

It’s one of those wonderfully quirky traditions that makes Wells so special 💚
