Okay, I need to do a little Halloween dump from Salou 🎃
You know I always bang on about Salou for families, but I’ve never seen it like this. The hotels have gone full haunted house - I’m talking grim reapers in reception, mummies wrapped round the desk, ghosts hanging from the ceiling. And PortAventura… wow.
We spent the day in Far West doing all the spooky things - lying in the coffins, shaking hands with the skeletons, finding giant pumpkins, even getting a hug from the scary clown (she was braver than me, I’ll be honest 😂). There’s that big bird mummy statue too - you’ll see her in the video.
What I loved - and this is why I’m posting it personally - is that Salouween isn’t just jump scares. There’s the full-on horror houses for the thrill seekers, but there’s also the trick-or-treat trails on Passeig Jaume I, the little haunted house in the square, the parades, the chestnut stalls. It felt really inclusive. Not too loud, not too overwhelming, you could pick your level of spooky. As you know, that matters so much to me and to a lot of the families I book for.
We laughed so much. Came home with sore cheeks from screaming and laughing.
I’ve put together a little mini vlog of it all - have a watch and tell me, would you brave Salou for Halloween next year?
Home now with a cuppa and already missing the sunshine. If you fancy October half term with a twist, you know where I am. LDM Travel
