This is a lovely place to grab something to eat whilst visiting the island 🏝️ can highly recommend the midweek roast
They have a farm on the island so everything is as fresh as fresh can be

We can not recommend this public house enough. They even have a farm on the island and everything they grow on the farm they use in their dishes, you really can not get more fresher than that. If you are visiting the island 🏝️ why not check them out. During peak season booking is advised

Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for The Essex coast from Clacton to and including, St Peters Flat and the Colne and Blackwater estuaries.

Some minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths is likely between 10:45am and 12:45pm tomorrow, Saturday 29th March. Clacton Promenade, Lee-over-Sands and Brightlingsea sea front may experience some wave overtopping and spray. The Strood at Mersea Island, Coast Road and car parks on the front at West Mersea, and the Hythe and Promenade at Maldon may be flooded. The detailed forecast for those that use it is for a peak level at Clacton of 2.82mAODN at 11:45am, on Saturday 29th March, which is 0.26m above tide tables, wind force 2, Southerly. (mAODN is height above average sea level, for more information refer to local tide tables). The tide on Sunday 30th March at 1.30pm (British Summer Time) is also currently forecast to be at Flood Alert level.

Take care on coastal roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.

This common seal 🦭 was seen enjoying a bit of sunbathing on the beach I at East Mersea Point.

The seal 🦭 came ashore when the Point was virtually deserted and for a while, with no dogs to chase it back into the water, it was left to enjoy the peace!
