We manufacture ball chain at our premises in Dudley UK. We have grown from a purely UK supplier into the leading supplier of ball chain in Europe.

Sturge Industries Ltd has been in existence in one shape or form since 1925, when the company started up by supplying various engineering products. However, it was in 1976 that the story of the modern-day Sturge began, after Sturge acquired Birmingham Associated Chain Co Ltd and started to manufacture ball chain. Since then Sturge has perfected the manufacture of ball chain, enabling us to grow from a purely UK supplier into the leading European manufacturer. The secret to this success has been the business focus on producing a quality product coupled with timely delivery service, ensuring that customers receive a first rate product when they need it, and to back this we are ISO 9001:2008 accredited. One of the ways that we have achieved this is by maximum integration of manufacturing processes at our purpose-built facility in Dudley UK. Here, as well as manufacture of the chain itself we have our own metal slitting and plating facilities that ensure complete control of the process from start to finish. This means that we are able to supply customers with a top-quality product, perfectly suited to their needs. Today Sturge has been able to build upon its decades of experience in ball chain to become a truly international supplier. We currently have customers in over thirty countries, ranging from Europe, the Far East and North America, a figure that continues to grow year on year.

The End of an Era
After many years, we have made the difficult decision to announce that Sturge Industries Ltd has ceased trading.
It truly feels like the end of an era.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to all of our customers, past and present, for your support, loyalty and custom over the years. It has been a privilege to serve you, and we are incredibly grateful for the relationships and memories built along the way.
To everyone who has supported the business — customers, suppliers, colleagues, — thank you. Your support has meant more than you know.
Closing a business that has been such a big part of our lives is not easy, but we look back with enormous pride at what we achieved and the people we had the pleasure of working with.
The end of an era, but a chapter we will always be grateful for.

So this is the effect that you get when the chain is being reeled from the baskets. The speed in which the chain is being lifted from the basket causes this tornado effect.
