Let me tell you about the trip that changed everything for me.

A few years ago I planned a Christmas city break to Budapest — one of my favourite cities in Europe. Five of us travelling together — my husband, his adult children, his 78 year old dad. We were meeting up with his sister and her husband in Budapest. A proper family adventure.
I booked everything separately online. Flights from Leeds Bradford to Brussels, then Brussels to Budapest. Hotels. Transfers. The lot.
Our first flight was delayed by two and a half hours.
We missed our connection.
Five of us — including a 78 year old — stranded at Brussels airport at 8 pm on a winter evening with nowhere to go and nobody to help us.
We spent hours trying to get answers from the airline and the booking platform. We got nowhere. The earliest flight available was the next morning.
So we had to find and pay for a hotel in Brussels at short notice. Pay for transport into the city and back. Pay for a new flight to Budapest.
What started as a carefully planned city break ended up costing us almost double what we'd budgeted.
We did eventually get to Budapest — and it was absolutely wonderful. The thermal baths, the Christmas markets, the food, the company. A genuinely magical city.
But the stress of those hours in Brussels airport — with family depending on me to sort it — never left me.
That experience is a big part of why I started Alison Clarke Getaways.
Because when you book through me, you are never stranded. You are never on hold for hours getting nowhere. You have one person — me — who handles everything, advocates for you, and makes sure your trip goes exactly as it should.
And if something does go wrong? You call me. Not a call centre. Not a chatbot. Me.
