It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Laurie Farmer — who was the heart of Broomfields Holidays.
When we first arrived at Broomfields, the site was derelict and the cottages were in ruins. Through Laurie’s vision, determination, and hard work, it was transformed into the place so many of you know and love today.
Many of our guests and regular visitors will have known Laurie well. He was often around, always ready with a joke, a chat, or a warm welcome. He was funny, intelligent, and kind, and took great pride in what Broomfields became—not just as a place to stay, but as something special to share with others.
Above all, Laurie was a devoted family man. His family was everything to him, and that love has always been at the centre of what he built here at Broomfields.
Laurie loved seeing guests return year after year, and he valued the relationships built here just as much as the work itself.
We are heartbroken to lose him so suddenly. His presence will be deeply missed.
As a family, we are learning to move forward without him, and we kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this time.
Thank you to everyone who has shown such kindness and support—it truly means a great deal.
