Is a Norwegian Fjords cruise with Cunard right for you?

Before my recent sailing on Queen Mary 2, I imagined something very formal, very traditional and maybe even a bit intimidating. Lots of unspoken rules and a very specific “type” of guest.

The reality was very different. My three words now are: timeless, cultured, welcoming.

Sea days were full of choice, from Paddle Tennis and Line Dancing to hot tubs, stretching and painting classes, live music and elegant ballroom dancing in the evenings. The guest mix was much broader than I expected, with millennial couples, multi‑gen families, groups of friends and everything in between. And the dress code felt far more relaxed and achievable than I had feared, with space for both ball gowns and simple smart outfits.

POV: a sea day on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 ⚓

From an early‑morning brew with a view to gala‑night glam, live music, karaoke and a sunset on deck, this is what a full sea day really looks like onboard.

I know a lot of people worry they might be bored on sea days, but for me it was the opposite – time to slow down, move my body, try different activities, enjoy incredible food and still have quiet moments to just stare at the sea.

It is that time again… my out of office is about to go on and this time I am heading back to Disneyland Paris with family.

We will be staying on site at Disney’s Newport Bay Club for three nights, soaking up the Disney magic from morning to night so I can bring back even more first hand tips on hotels, timings, dining, park strategy and of course, how to get your hands on the Disney champagne!

While I am away, the wonderful Shona will be here looking after my clients and supporting any new enquiries, so you are in very safe hands.

Here is how it will work while I am away:
✨ If you are one of my existing clients who is travelling or due to travel, you have already been checked in on and you have all the relevant contact details for your trip.
🚨 If anything urgent comes up while I am away, Shona will be on hand to help and can liaise with the wider support team and our 24/7 duty office.
📝 Any new enquiries that land while I am away, I will pick up once I am back – unless it is time sensitive, in which case Shona will step in and make sure you are looked after.

Last week: snow in Olden. Today: the beach in UK sunshine.

Taking the Skylift to the top of Mt Hoven was one of those pinch‑me moments: fjords below, mountains all around, snow‑covered scenery and Queen Mary 2 looking tiny in the distance. The air up there was so fresh and crisp, it is almost impossible to explain until you have felt it yourself.

This is exactly why I love cruising with Cunard. One voyage, so many completely different experiences: dramatic landscapes, cosy sea days, elegant evenings, all while travelling in comfort and style aboard the beautiful Queen Mary 2.

A balcony cabin… but make it weatherproof. 🚢

Here’s a little room tour of our sheltered balcony cabin onboard Queen Mary 2.

One of the things I really liked about these cabins is that the balcony is cut into the hull of the ship, which means you can still sit outside and enjoy the sea views even if the weather isn’t perfect. Ideal for an Atlantic crossing where conditions can change quickly!

And yes… I laugh in the video because I genuinely had to double check the cabin number again 😂 I ended up keeping a photo of it on my phone for most of the trip because apparently I just wasn’t capable of remembering it.

I don’t properly show the wardrobe in this tour, although you do get a quick glimpse! But there was plenty of storage space for two women to unpack everything we brought… including outfits for two gala nights ✨
