During her recent visit at Al-Ikhwan Nursery and Primary School in Zanzibar, Kya, our Programs Officer, shared some of the resources that the school needs to transform learning opportunities for SEN students. To make the vision a reality, we are looking for 40 generous founders to donate £250 each.

Your donation will make education accessible to children with additional needs through the construction of a Library, ICT Room and SEN classroom, enabling our partner school to enroll 40-45 SEN pupils.

Will you become one of the 40 founders and help us transform SEN education in Zanzibar? Donate here: https://buff.ly/QI8D8co

Students from Ungana Academy shared a lively song that helped volunteers learn Swahili numbers. This was a moment of exploring culture and language in a memorable and fun way.💫
A simple song, a shared language and impactful memories.

Welcome to Rainbow School, one of our new partner schools in Naivasha, Kenya.

This small, privately run school supports around 70 children aged 3 to 10 each day. Founded in 2013, Rainbow School was created to make education more accessible for local families who may struggle with the additional costs often linked to government-funded schools, such as uniforms, desks, and textbooks.

Through the efforts of our volunteers and Foundation, we’re proud to work alongside Rainbow School to improve facilities and help create a better learning environment for every child.

Meet Kesiah, she is our reusable pad maker in Zanzibar. Kesiah runs her own business, making school uniforms and reusable pads for the community.

Kesiah says " I have been making reusable pads for a long time, just over 2 years for the women and girls in my community. I think they are very important, they keep us safe and healthy, if we don't have pads, it is a big challenge for us. We have to use pieces of our clothes, Kanga or Kitenge which we know is not healthy for us. I think more schools should introduce the use of reusable pads, it would help grow my business but also make more girls more confident and freer because they have pads which are safe. I first learnt about making pads on the internet and taught myself how to make them. I saw the needs of the community and decided to make them myself. I have made over 10,000 pads for girls and women in the community."

Our amazing and dedicated volunteers have been fundraising to help cover the costs of their upcoming trip with Foundation of Light. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and grateful to everyone who supported them at the Sunderland vs Manchester United Matchday.
Fundraising plays an important role in the trip, giving our volunteers the chance to build confidence, teamwork and communication skills while working together towards a shared goal.
