We’re pleased to report that The Chieftain is now back at her home berth in Whitstable harbour ready for the new season to start. We’re grateful as ever for the care taken by the team at Ironwharf boatyard in getting her back afloat from her winter storage.
With the weather still a little unsettled we will be running as and when we are able to for now but hope to be fully open for the Easter Holidays.

We’re getting there now with the winter overhaul thanks to our shelter which has enabled us to work despite the seemingly non stop rain this year. We’ve gone darker with the blue which will more closely match the colour Chieftain was when she was still in service. Hope you all like it?

It’s always nice when the sanding down is finished and we can start putting the fresh varnish and paint on. Lots going on behind the scenes now to be ready for the Easter holidays.

After a bit of a break at the end of last season we are now hard at it getting Chieftain back to looking her best. We’ll be ready and raring to go in time for the Easter holidays. See you soon.

We have now called an end to our 2025 season and look forward to taking a bit of a rest. It’s been a great summer taking lots of passengers and friends , old and new , out on to the waters of the bay. The weather has been kind and we’ve enjoyed being a part of the Harbour Open day , the Blessing of the Waters and being here for the visit of the Waverley. On two occasions Chieftain was reminded of her old days as a Lifeboat when she was able to offer help to people in trouble in the water.
We’d like to thank all our crew and family for all their help again this year.
We look forward to being back in the harbour next year to do it all again.
