It may be small, but Volpaia is one of those places that leaves a lasting impression. Tucked away in the hills just outside Radda in Chianti, this beautifully preserved medieval village is full of character, quiet charm and incredible views. Described as one of the prettiest medieval villages in the area, its fortified walls, towers and winding alleyways have remained remarkably intact.

Spend a few hours wandering the tiny streets, discovering hidden courtyards and soaking up the atmosphere before settling down for a long lunch or leisurely dinner. The village is home to the renowned Castello di Volpaia, where you can enjoy a w**e tasting or join a guided tour of both the village and w**ery to learn more about its fascinating history and innovative w**emaking.

What we love most is that there's no pressure to rush. Volpaia is a place to slow down, enjoy a good meal, sip a glass of local w**e, and appreciate the beauty of Chianti at a gentler pace.

"How had I never visited Monteriggioni before?

After years of travelling to Tuscany for both work and holidays, last weekend was my first visit to Monteriggioni (and it's Medieval Festival) and it completely exceeded expectations.

Just 30 minutes from Chianti, this beautiful walled town came alive with horsemanship displays, birds of prey, medieval markets, music, incredible food and, rather unexpectedly, a rhino wandering the streets (which my toddler was obsessed with!).

As the sun set and the walls lit up against the Tuscan countryside, it felt genuinely magical.

What I loved most was how authentic it felt. No inflated prices, easy free parking, great value tickets and something for every generation. I visited with my parents, husband and daughter, and every one of us left wanting to come back.

One of our favourite things to recommend for a Tuscan villa stay?

A cooking class.

Not just because you get to eat what youā€™ve made afterwards.

A good Tuscan cooking experience gives you a chance to spend a few hours with someone who lives and cooks here, learning about local ingredients, traditional recipes and the way food is part of everyday life in Tuscany.

Fresh pasta, local produce, a glass of w**e and a long lunch afterwardsā€¦

Iā€™d happily make room for that in any Tuscany itinerary.

Itā€™s just 15km from Siena, but set in the countryside, with views across the fields and a little village with a pizzeria within walking distance.

The fenced private pool is a big plus for families with younger children, and thereā€™s plenty of space outside for lazy afternoons under the covered terrace.

We also really like the layout here. There are two living areas and kitchens, plus the third bedroom and bathroom are downstairs, so thereā€™s a little more privacy if youā€™re travelling with grandparents, older children or another couple.

Six guests, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and your own pool, all within easy reach of Siena.

Of course, weā€™re looking forward to the delicious food and stunning views, but thereā€™s plenty of work on the agenda too. šŸ˜‰

This week, weā€™re visiting some of our amazing villas and meeting the owners who put so much care and passion into ensuring our guests enjoy an unforgettable holiday in Tuscany.

Itā€™s always a pleasure for us to be here in person, reconnect with our owners, and get to know the villas even better.

A little Italian rule that might surprise youā€¦

Cappuccino is traditionally a morning drink in Italy.

If you order one after lunch or dinner, you might get a few raised eyebrows.

After a meal, youā€™re much more likely to see an espresso ordered instead.

Of course, no one is going to stop you ordering a cappuccino, youā€™re on holiday, after all!

But if you want to order your coffee like a local, now you know.

Poggio Landi is one of those villas that makes it easy to spend time together.

Thereā€™s a private tennis court, bocce pitch, table tennis, a huge 16-metre pool and even a separate gym, so thereā€™s plenty to keep everyone entertained when youā€™re enjoying a day at the villa.

I particularly like the outdoor spaces here. Thereā€™s a shaded loggia, a pergola covered in greenery and plenty of room to sit together, whether youā€™re taking a break between activities or settling in for the evening.

The house has plenty of character too. Dating back to 1820, it was built by a Russian family to celebrate their sonā€™s safe return from military service.

With five bedrooms and space for up to 10 guests, Poggio Landi is a lovely option for families or groups of friends who want a villa where thereā€™s plenty to enjoy without having to go far.

We love that you can spend the day by the pool, wander down to the w**e cellar for a tasting, or relax in the steam room when you've had enough exploring.

And when you do fancy heading out, Radda is only 2km away, with a couple of w**eries you can walk to.

Five bedrooms, space for 10 and all of this in the heart of Chianti Classico. What's not to like?

If we had one day in Tuscany, we wouldnā€™t try to see it all.

Weā€™d start with a slow breakfast at the villa, then head out to explore a small town or village nearby. Stop for a coffee, have a wander, and then find somewhere for a long lunch.

In the afternoon, weā€™d leave some time to take the scenic route, visit a w**ery or simply stop somewhere that catches our eye.

Then itā€™s back to the villa for the evening, perhaps dinner outside, a glass of local w**e and time to enjoy where youā€™re staying.

After helping people plan their Tuscany villa stays, weā€™ve found that the days people remember arenā€™t always the ones where they saw the most. Sometimes itā€™s having the time to enjoy a place without rushing from one thing to the next.

If you're planning a trip around Tuscany, Arezzo is a town worth putting on your list.

Our team has visited Arezzo many times and it's a place we always enjoy exploring. The historic center has plenty of character, with medieval streets, beautiful buildings and Piazza Grande at its heart.

Piazza Grande is particularly worth seeing on the first weekend of the month, when Arezzo's famous antiques market takes place. The square and surrounding streets fill with stalls, making it a great time to explore the town.

Away from the main sights, there are plenty of cafƩs, restaurants and independent shops to discover, so you can easily spend a few hours here without needing a packed itinerary.

And if you're staying in the area, we have a selection of villas that make a great base for exploring Arezzo and the surrounding countryside.
