🇳🇿 New Zealand 🇳🇿

I had a few days in New Zealand to split my time in Australia up and wow from just the few days I spent there I CANT wait to go back! I did not want to leave what an amazing place. I was visiting my brother in Queenstown and it reminded me of home in the lakes sooo much.

Queenstown has so much to do and is perfect for any outdoor enthusiasts. I only had a few days here so I wanted to cram in and see as much as possible and with the help of my Ash driving me around I fit in a lot! 😆 I was pretty unlucky with the weather there on a couple of my days but I still managed to fit in the main things I wanted to do.

🚠 Queenstown Skyline Luge & Gondela
Take the gondola up from the town for great views and to have a go on the luge which was great fun. We also ate in the Stratosfare Restaurant. You can also start walks from the gondola or access the mountain bike trails.

⛰️ Hike Queenstown Hill
When I first arrived we went straight out and hiked Queenstown hill before the rain started and it was a fab little hike. Amazing views of Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu & the Remarkables. This was a relatively easy hike and took just under 2 hours.

✈️ Milford Sound Flyover
Unfortunately my plan to do Milford sound fly cruise was cancelled due to the weather and with only having a small amount of time there I couldn’t reschedule around other plans. I could squeeze in a Milford Sound Flyover with Air Milford which was amazing. We had a small plane that fits 4 people in and with the weather the day before the first snow of the winter season meant we seen Mt Aspiring NP & Remarkbales with a covering of snow! I would highly recommend doing this whilst in Queenstown.

⚱️ Visit Arrowtown
This was a small town that’s renowned for its gold mining heritage. You will also find the Lakes District Museum here. The town is full of history and some lovely shops & restaurants.

⛰️ Hike Roy’s Peak
This is a must for anyone who loves hiking the views were insane. The hike starts close to Wanaka and will take around 5-6 hours to complete. The full walk has views over Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains.

🌳 Visit Wanaka
I loved Wanaka we stopped here after the hike and had an ice cream by the lake shore there is water sports available here, so many lovely restaurants / bars in the town and also the famous Wanaka Tree.

⛷️ Les Deux Alpes France Ski Trip ⛷️

We were in Les Duex alpes for a week at the end of March and we had great conditions for spring skiing! We stayed in the Chamios Lodge which is a small hotel that has a chalet vibe to it and I would highly recommend staying here. We stayed on half board and the food was delicious some of the best half board food I have had in a ski resort. Breakfast was continental but evening meal was a 3 course set menu. The hotel had a gorgeous spa area with indoor and outdoor hot tubs, sauna, steam room & cold plunge pool perfect for after a days skiing.

The hotel is 4 min walk from the chairlift and 10 min from the main gondola which both get you up the mountain in no time at all!
The ski area is well linked and a good sized area that has lots of blues perfect for intermediate skiers. One reason I chose this resort was due to the majority of the beginner & intermediate runs were higher up the mountain which made it more snow sure and has a glacier at 3400m.

We had great conditions with a big dump of overnight snow on our first night and a full day of snow mid week. The runs down into the resort lower down were a little slushy due to late season but okay for more experienced skiers and there was the option of the lift down into resort.

The ski resort itself has something for everyone with lots of choices of bars, restaurants, nightlife & family friendly activities. I would definitely recommend here for groups of friends, couples & families.
