We have had an early start to the season with our first wedding this afternoon. Congratulations to Florence and George on behalf of everyone at Wisbech Castle.

We hosted the second group of young people from Wisbech Grammar School at Wisbech Castle this morning.

As yesterday it was an awesome visit and our guests were full of enthusiasm and interesting questions. Special mention to Rosie, who was delightful and full of thoughtful ideas and comments, but all the young people were great guests.

These visits are an important part of why volunteers and the Town Council work so hard to maintain the castle for local people. Mr and Mrs Fendick wanted exactly this, for the building to used for education into the future.

Thanks to our guides, Jamie Edwards and Steve Tierney, and to our Caretaker, Trevor Ketteringham.

Wisbech Castle hosted visitors from Wisbech Grammar School today and will be doing so again tomorrow.

It was great to show the young people around and introduce them to the Castle and its history.

The questions were excellent and everybody was engaged and well-behaved.

Looking forward to tomorrow's visit!

We were pleased to receive some very nice guests today. Local Cubs and Scouts came to visit the castle for a tour of the house and vaults. They were polite, bright and pleasant young people and a credit to the area.

Thanks to our volunteers Susan Wallwork and Steve Tierney for giving up their time to be the tour guides this evening.

It's been a busy couple of weeks for the volunteers, with back to back events. We had two weeks of the Wisbech Reads Event, followed by Wisbech Rose Fair, where we once again welcomed the Militia of Anglia for two days of reenactment. Plus one area of the garden has been redeveloped and planted with a mix of flowering shrubs and perennials, along with some bedding plants.
It was good to see so many people visiting.

If you missed the Militias today, they are back tommorow at the Castle 10am-3pm

This morning Amanda organised a working party to help with some gardening work. We are starting to clear some of the bushes on the top slope that have a lot of dead wood in the centre and congested with ivy and brambles. We have new shrubs and perennials waiting to go in, once we get some rain! All bushes were checked for birds nests prior to any work.
Thanks go to Paul, Colin, Josh and Amanda for their hard work.

It was great to see so many of you at our Open Day today!
