One of the most popular walks in Colchester, the Wivenhoe Trail is an informal route of about 5 miles, stretching from Wivenhoe to Colchester town centre.

If you're a smart phone user you can follow the route using the Go Jauntly app.

Most of the walk is along footpaths away from main roads bar a short section in the middle where you cross the river, close to where the lightship is moored at the Hythe.

Fully booked until July, and just a few spaces then. Wivenhoe is such a lovely peaceful place to be.

Wivenhoe Art Trail is on today. Wonder around and look at all the local art pursuits.
