Jet2 Gatwick - Menorca review (with a toddler and EES)
This was our first experience of JET2 and they are new to Gatwick, so I was keen to see how they compare. After flying now 44 airlines ish, I would like to think I am a fair judge!
We used twlight check in. The first photo was at 5pm the night before our 6am flight. We were there for 5 min and gone! The second photo was at 4am which was very quiet.
We have a cabin size buggy now which folds in seconds and was a game changer. It was so stressful folding the old one down and emptying it at the aircraft door. I was very surprised with the leg room, it was an Airbus A321, as a reference. What dissapoints me with many low cost airlines is having no seat back pockets, there is no where to put anything and the cup holder is a nice idea here, but only fits the hot drinks they serve. I like to unpack 😆
The flight was uneventful in a nice way. From jetbridge to baggage hall where our first bag was waiting, 14 min! This is why I love coming to Menorca. The island and airport is just so much quieter than other European destinations. The EES machines were on, no queue, someone put our passports in and clicked a few buttons, no photo, no finger prints, then we went to the passport desk where adult photos were taken and that was it.
On the way back we had a rental car and aimed to get there before a queue of Jet2 buses arrived, parked right by check in, checked in within minutes then dropped the car off, so easy! Immigration leaving was slow and there were quite a few flights leaving at the same time, 30 min to get through and Jet2 staff did come to the queue to fast track anyone with a flight closing. No other airline was doing that! There was an air traffic delay, which is usual in peak season, so they opened up the flight deck and invited all the children up for photos, amazing! They also gave us a little postcard to have filled in for my little boy by the Captain, if you don't ask you don't get!
Overall, we couldn't fault Jet2, the airport visual presence of staff was amazing, help wasn't far way. We would choose Jet2 again ☺
