⚠️ How to View Today's Solar Eclipse Safely! ⚠️

If you're planning on watching the partial solar eclipse later today, please keep in mind the crucial safety information to protect your eyes. Looking at the sun incorrectly can cause permanent damage.

🚫 What NOT to do:

• NEVER look directly at the sun with the naked eye.
• Do NOT use regular sunglasses, smoked glass, or homemade filters.
• Do NOT stand with your back to the sun and use your phone's selfie camera to watch it. This is not a safe viewing method and can still damage your eyes.

✅ How to view safely:
• Use **certified** solar eclipse glasses (ISO 12312-2 standard).
• If you don't have glasses, use an indirect method like a pinhole projector. You can easily make one with two pieces of cardstock or paper.

Reports of the debris field seem quite expansive, with pieces of debris falling as far afield as Mayland, Hullbridge, Steeple, and of course here in Woodham. It's possible that debris might contain asbestos and/or other possibly toxic substances. We've been asked by a member of the local emergency services to pass on this advice - ** Do not handle any found debris. If it needs to be removed then use gloves and PPE **
