by my bass playing Dad and an amazing rock scene at the time. Main influences were Leigh Marklew (Terrorvision), Gene Simmons (Kiss) and Rachel Bolan (Skid Row). Started gigging at 14 and played in various bands doing covers and original material from indie and electro 80s pop through blues right through to rock and hardcore. Was a partner in Muzos music shop in Kidderminster and Muzos Rock Academy until it closed in 2011. Been teaching now for 21 years and still love it! I feel the most important thing as a bass player is to be a solid player with good reliable rhythm. Along with this is a good understanding as music as a whole so that you can play what is required for any song. I also believe a good understanding in music theory is a real help for any musician to really aid their playing. The course I teach covers all styles and genres but most importantly will make you a solid bass player. There’s no point being able to do double handed tapping if you can’t play a simple 4 note song. You won’t get many band offers! Start from the beginning and build a solid base and then we can work on the fancy stuff later. It will make you a much better bass player! I cover all theory and reading. Everything will be available in TAB with music notation as well. Ear training and general musicianship is incorporated too. I also offer stand alone music theory lessons to anyone regardless of which instrument you play! It’s all the same theory! Many of my students have gone on to play in bands, record and tour.
