Works are progressing well at Cotswold Sports Centre in Reading, where we’re transforming an old tarmac court into a state-of-the-art 3G pitch. ⚽

This upgrade includes new edging, fencing, and improved floodlighting, all designed to enhance local playing conditions.

Replacing the edgings without disturbing the existing tarmac base is a technically demanding task, requiring precision and experience from our installation team. ⚒️

Once complete, the new surface will offer a durable, high-quality facility that supports community sport for years to come.

Huge congratulations to Surbiton Hockey Club on an incredible weekend of playoff action! 🏑

The Men’s First Team clinched the Premier division title, while the Women’s First Team finished runners-up after a fiercely contested final. Both teams showed real grit and talent throughout — a brilliant end to the season.

We’re honoured to sponsor Surbiton and support their journey at the top level of English hockey.

Last year, we delivered two full size FIH Certified Hockey Pitches for the senior teams and one training pitch for the junior members, we are proud to have contributed to this year's success.

Last night, our CEO was pitch side at Hanworth Villa FC , cheering on the team during their crucial Isthmian League – South Central Division Play-off Semi Final — a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Ascot United.

As official shirt sponsors this season, Blakedown is proud to support Hanworth Villa both on and off the pitch. Next week, we begin work on the first phase of the club’s redevelopment plan — the installation of a FIFA-compliant 3G pitch at Rectory Meadow.

The project includes groundworks, drainage, surfacing, and landscaping, ensuring the site is fully prepared for safe and effective use. These facilities will provide a durable and weather-resilient playing surface, supporting the long-term development of the club.

With decades of experience delivering elite sports facilities across the UK, we’re proud to help ambitious clubs like Hanworth Villa build for the future.

Next up: Villa face Uxbridge away at Honeycroft this Sunday (May 4) in the play-off final. Good luck to everyone at the club!

We’re excited to share some fantastic images of the groundwork and formation completed for our All-Weather Pitch project with Bowmer and Kirkland at St Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox School , Barnet.

These images highlight key elements of the build, including the drainage system, stone formation, kerb installation, and tarmac works—offering insight into the process our on-site team follow to deliver the project from the ground up.

At Blakedown, we go above and beyond to ensure every detail is delivered to the highest standard.

We look forward to the completion of this sustainable facility, which will be fully fenced and finished with a preformed shockpad and Edel Soccer Twinblade 35-18 carpet with sand infill.

Double Hockey Pitch 🏑

We're excited to share new images from our stunning double-pitch project at Taunton School!

Both pitches are FIH Category 3 certified and surfaced with TigerTurf Evo Pro, setting the stage for hockey at the school to reach elite levels.

This major new-build project started from the ground up and includes full fencing and state-of-the-art floodlighting systems—ensuring safe, secure, and flexible access year-round.

Several standout features elevate this facility even further: custom Taunton School equipment, improved tarmac access paths, landscaping enhancements for ecological purposes, and dedicated storage sheds.

3G Reconstruction 👷 !

Here are some images from our recent 3G reconstruction project for Blue Coat School, Coventry.

These images showcase various stages captured within the project, as we worked to produce a FIFA-Quality 3G pitch to enhance the sporting opportunities for the students.

The project involved the removal of the original carpet and sub-base, followed by the installation of brand new drainage and type 3 sub-base ⚒️

As demonstrated in the images, this was followed by the installation of a brand new tarmac layer which was surfaced with a 50mm FIFA Quality 3G system.
It’s been fantastic to witness the transformation of this facility and we hope the students continue to benefit from it for years to come.

New Blakedown Project Complete at Aston Park ⚽ !

Blakedown Sport & Play Ltd is proud to showcase stunning images from a recent 3G resurface project for Birmingham City Council .

Located in Aston Park, this project transformed an old sand-dressed facility into a brilliant new 3G pitch for the local community.

Alongside the resurfacing, the project also included:

Huge sustainable facility complete: Raising the game at CNCS! ⚽🏉

Blakedown Sport & Play is proud to have delivered a multi-faceted facility designed for excellence and sustainability for Cardinal Newman Catholic School, Brighton.

At the heart of this project is the state-of-the-art 3G pitch certified to World Rugby & FIFA Quality standards, featuring biodegradable BrockFill performance infill, brand new floodlighting and secure fencing.

Beyond the pitch, Blakedown also constructed:
🏢 Eco-friendly changing rooms with a green roof to enhance biodiversity.
⛑️ First aid & office facilities.
🔧 Custom storage for essential equipment.
🐝 Various animal protection elements.
🧱 Criblock retaining walls & future ready EV charging points.

At the opposite end of the school, Blakedown relocated and rebuilt four cricket wickets, complete with a dedicated school minibus car park. 🚍🏏

Sustainability was at the core of this project, with biodiversity-enhancing natural elements woven throughout the site, it has been a pleasure to bring this incredible facility to life and we hope the school continue to benefit from this for years to come!

🏌Complete resurface of one of the premier driving range facilities in the UK!

After constructing the original project of Greenwich Peninsula Driving Range in 2015, Blakedown are proud to announce we have recently revisited the facility to give it a new makeover and full resurface.

As these stunning images demonstrate, we have been working on a full resurface of the driving range with the introduction of a brand new, unique circle target design to enhance the golfing experience.

We have also constructed a purpose-built gradient around the perimeter of the facility to ensure quick and efficient ball collection.

We are still active on site and eager to enhance this facility even further over the coming weeks.
