Should tales be told within stone - the old and much worn steps from the King's Staith in York to Ouse Bridge would have much to reveal to the curious.

And never more so than one chilly December eve in the year 1853 as a tragedy by the water's edge begins to unfurl and two young women made good their escape.

Alas! Even at a remove of over one hundred and seventy two years - THOSE GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS PAST have been unable to escape the attention of our erstwhile sleuth and storyteller.

And, as the Lady Brigante will take to the unquiet streets of YORK every WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY until the dawn of Christmas Day - our Box Office awaits...

YOUR STORYTELLER:

The Dead Sleuth loves nothing more than shocking unsuspecting folk with the tale that she was abandoned at birth by gypsies and raised en famille with kindly mice in the crypt of an old church.

Alas! The truth is altogether more unremarkable!

Described as the bête noire of the long forgotten dearly departed – The Dead Sleuth is a sleuth of infamy, wanderer of unquiet graveyards and much more besides.

And with the promise of dusk, she and her raven headed cane will heed our call and throughout the dark months of NOVEMBER and DECEMBER - this sleuth of infamy will take to the unquiet streets of YORK in search of OUR GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS PAST.

"But this is a family matter!"

Words uttered in anger during a fierce family argument in the Spring of 1904 would return to damn an unrepentant defendant the following year as he stood in the dock of York Crown Court.

BUT pray what was THE family matter which aroused such fury?
