If you live in or are visiting St. Vincent and you’re looking for something different to do, why not hop over to Carriacou?

Fly over with SVG Air, spend the day exploring Carriacou, and head back to St. Vincent in the afternoon or stay a little longer and experience even more of the island.

SVG Air flies between St. Vincent and Carriacou daily, except Thursdays, leaving St. Vincent about 8am and returning at 5pm. The trip takes about 25 mins.

And trust me, the journey itself is part of the experience. The views of the Grenadine chain of islands from above are simply amazing, breathtaking… and all the perfect words I still can’t find to describe what I saw.

So, would you do this day trip?

Now this is so sad!

A teacher I will always remember. One of my fondest school day memory goes back to Form 3. You encouraged me to do Typing, and I told you I wasn’t interested. You said, “With the way the world is going, you may get a secretary job one day and have to type for your living. I confidently told you, “I’ll never type for my living I rather die."

A few years later, there I was working as a Data Entry Operator, typing for a living!
That memory has stayed with me all these years and still makes me smile and whenever we saw we always spoke of it having to learn to type before working which i could have done in school.

Rest well, Teach. You will never be forgotten.

I was truly shocked and saddened today to hear about the passing of one of my favourite teachers, Mrs. Brenda McFarlane, affectionately known to many of us as Teacher Brenda.

Teacher Brenda was a special person and a true pillar in the Carriacou community, especially in Windward and Dover. She was an excellent teacher at Hillsborough Secondary School, but her impact went far beyond the classroom.

I think one of the greatest things about Teacher Brenda was that almost every child at HSS loved her, even those she never taught. That says a lot about the kind of person she was. She had a way of making you feel cared for, encouraged and valued.

She genuinely wanted to see people succeed. She always wanted the best for others and was always willing to encourage and support you.

Her passing is a great loss to our community, but the memories she created and the lives she touched will never be forgotten.

To her husband, Kennady McFarlane, affectionately known as Dadda, her children, sisters, brothers, extended family, and the people of Top Dover and Windward, please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences.

Teacher Brenda, thank you for your love, your kindness and the many lives you touched. Carriacou has lost a special daughter, teacher and community member.

May you rest peacefully. You will truly be missed.

With great sadness,
Hon. Tevin Andrews MP and Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique affairs and Local Government
