It has been 5 months and 2 days since Hiro and I had an impromptu sit down to discus the plight of the Dominican people after Maria had just ravaged the island... and before we knew what happened... we had quickly formulated a plan to set up and arrange a rapid response relief effort for Dominica.

The support from the cruising community, local businesses and others was both incredible and very humbling. The kindness and generosity just kept pouring in.... and for 39 days, we coordinated numerous trips to and from Dominica with the Flying Buzzard and other vessels, which conservatively saw approx 400 tons of life sustaining supplies being delivered, approx $60,000 raised in cash, kind and or services.... for medical supplies, fuel, communication equipment, Life Saver Water Jerry Cans etc. being supplied and a lot more. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and kindness.

Unfortunately, Hiro and I had to get back to our normal lives, but... we are extremely grateful that with everyone's assistance, we actually did accomplish what we set out to do... and that was to provide instant and immediate life sustaining relief... before the larger operations could take over with the global scale assistance that is still ongoing. I continually follow their progress and point people in the right direction that still want to try and assist.

Work, which is a necessary part of keeping food on the table, has kept us from visiting. I am not sure when Hiro will get a chance to visit, but I shall be going to visit Dominica in just over a month when we head up north to St Martin... so that I can actually meet and personally thank the people on the ground who were an integral part of assisting us to fulfill our promises to everyone... but most importantly... to the Dominican people.

CAN'T WAIT!!!

Desiree and I are are devastated at the catastrophic damage that has been caused to both life and property by hurricane Irma in all the islands.

So many people are hurting right now and we are truly feeling the pain of our entire yachting family and the many friends that we have made in all these islands.

It is extremely frustrating that we cannot be there to help, but we are trying to help from a distance and will continue to do so.

It is even more frustrating not knowing if some of our friends are OK, as many of them have not made contact as yet. We understand the communication problem and will just remain positive at this stage.

Homes, buildings, establishments, businesses and much more... that have taken an eternity to establish... have been wiped out in just a few hours. Picking up the pieces is going to take a long time. There is a massive task ahead, but our small communities are strong and will overcome... as life goes on.

To those on the ground and in the middle that are helping - thank you - but PLEASE take time to look after yourselves too. In these situations the adrenaline is pumping, the hearts want to help, but sometimes the body needs rest and nourishment. Make sure you do not neglect yourselves.... we need you!! More help is on the way!!

Right now... just be thankful for life and let's look after each other as best we can until each and every one of those affected are back on their feet.

What a breath of fresh air it is being in Grenada. I still can't get over how friendly everyone is... everywhere... from the moment you arrive. The different activities and day tours of this beautiful island are numerous and incredible.
The sailing grounds, islands and stunning beaches are breathtaking.
The "vibe" is exactly what I imagined it to be when we heard we were going to the Caribbean all those years ago... it took a while to find it... and now that we have... BIG smiles.
We are so looking forward to sharing this entire area and the Grenadines etc. with our valued charter guests.

Today we end one chapter and begin another as we sail out of the Virgin Islands for the last time.

It is a bitter sweet feeling, since we are really excited and happy to begin this next chapter, but sad that were not able to say goodbye to... and in some cases... may not see some of the people that we became fortunate enough to call our friends in the future. We met some truly amazing people while drifting around these parts during the past 5 plus years and we look forward to meeting many more such individuals and having tons more fun in our incredible new sailing grounds.

Busy times lie ahead as we commence our cruise down to Grenada to haul Majestic Spirit for her annual pamper session - add a few things - fix a few things and make her shine bright for the new season.

Stay tuned for our new adventures as we continue on our mission to provide the best possible sailing vacation to anyone willing to experience the fun, food and luxury on Majestic Spirit.

We will be heading to Grenada via SXM in a few days time to do our annual haul out for maintenance and relocate at the same time :) Currently in St Thomas awaiting a package to arrive before departing to the BVI to get some things and then on to St Martin and then directly to Grenada. Anyone looking for a lift down? Drop me a PM.
