Spice Residential Care Facility

Spice Residential Care Facility Special, Personalized, Innovative, Care, Everyday, in a safe, loving and beautiful environment. S. P. I. C. E ; Special, Personalized, Innovative, Care, Everyday.

The idea to establish Spice Residential Care Facility came about based on my work experience at a similar facility 20 yrs ago in Montreal Canada. After seeing what was offered to the elderly I decided that it is something that is needed in Grenada. Being a senior should not deprive you from having the best available care. Therefore, it is my aim to provide same in an environment that caters to t

he well being of the elderly. This idea was further supported by my niece Alisha Francis who recently completed her Masters in Public Health. With her drive to cater to the health and wellness of individuals, this venture is the ideal foundation to realize her dream while meeting the needs of others. At Spice Residential Care Facility our philosophy is to maintain the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our residents; recognizing their rights to dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and freedom of choice to live their lives as they wish in a caring environment with encouragement and support specific to their needs. The Facility is not a nursing home, but we recognize that with age, physical and mental health can rapidly change. Any nursing care required will be delivered by our Qualified nursing team, and trained personnel.

Confusion can be frightening for a person living with dementia.
What they need most is not correction — but reassurance, patience, and calm support. 💙

✔ Speak gently and slowly
✔ Maintain eye contact
✔ Avoid arguing or forcing reality
✔ Use simple words and short instructions
✔ Offer comfort through touch, music, or familiar routines
✔ Create a calm and safe environment

Sometimes the confusion may not make sense to us, but the emotions they feel are very real.

A little patience can turn fear into comfort and frustration into peace. Care with compassion makes all the difference. 🌿

Most common type of Dementia.

Alzheimer’s disease is more than simple forgetfulness. It is a progressive condition that affects memory, thinking, behavior, and daily activities over time. Recognizing the early signs can help families seek support and care sooner.

Common Symptoms May Include:

• Memory loss that disrupts daily life
• Repeating questions or stories frequently
• Difficulty finding words or following conversations
• Confusion about time, dates, or places
• Misplacing items and being unable to retrace steps
• Changes in mood, personality, or behavior
• Withdrawal from social activities or hobbies
• Difficulty completing familiar tasks
• Poor judgment or decision-making
• Increased anxiety, frustration, or suspicion

Every person experiences symptoms differently, and changes may happen gradually. Compassion, patience, and understanding are essential when supporting someone living with dementia.

Early recognition and medical evaluation can make a significant difference in planning care and improving quality of life. 💜

Understanding the Different Types of Dementia 💜

Dementia is not one specific disease — it is a term used to describe a group of conditions that affect memory, thinking, behavior, and daily functioning. Learning about the different types can help us show more compassion, patience, and support to those living with it and their families.

🧠 **Alzheimer’s Disease**
The most common form of dementia. It usually begins with memory loss and confusion, gradually affecting communication and daily activities.

🧠 **Vascular Dementia**
Often caused by reduced blood flow to the brain, sometimes after a stroke. Symptoms may include difficulty with planning, concentration, and slowed thinking.

🧠 **Lewy Body Dementia**
Can cause memory problems, visual hallucinations, sleep disturbances, and changes in movement similar to Parkinson’s disease.

🧠 **Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD)**
Usually affects behavior, personality, emotions, and language before memory. It often appears at a younger age than other forms of dementia.

🧠 **Mixed Dementia**
A combination of two or more types of dementia, most commonly Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia.

💜 Dementia affects not only the individual, but also families, caregivers, and communities. Early support, understanding, and compassionate care can make a meaningful difference.

At Spice Care, we believe every person deserves dignity, patience, comfort, and love throughout every stage of life. 🌿

Understanding Dementia 💜

Dementia is not a normal part of aging. It is a condition that affects memory, thinking, behavior, and the ability to perform everyday activities. It can cause a person to forget familiar faces, become confused about time or place, struggle with communication, or experience changes in mood and personality.

People living with dementia still need love, patience, dignity, and understanding. Behind every diagnosis is a person with a lifetime of memories, experiences, and feelings.

Early signs may include:
• Memory loss that disrupts daily life
• Difficulty completing familiar tasks
• Confusion with time or place
• Changes in mood or behavior
• Trouble finding words or following conversations

Supporting someone with dementia means creating a safe, calm, and compassionate environment while helping them maintain as much independence as possible.

At Spice Care, we believe every person deserves care with dignity, kindness, and respect. 💚
