🏔️ When does the Gudauri ski season usually start? 🎿❄️

As autumn arrives, one of the questions we hear most often is: “When can we start skiing in Gudauri?”

The exact opening date cannot be known months in advance, because everything depends on natural snowfall and weather conditions. However, looking at previous years gives us a good idea of what to expect:

❄️ 2025/26 season — 27 December 2025
A very snowy winter with excellent conditions throughout the season. Skiing continued until 19 April.

❄️ 2024/25 season — 21 December 2024
Snow arrived relatively early, and there was still plenty of snow on the slopes on the official closing day, 17 April.

❄️ 2023/24 season — 15 December 2023
One of the snowiest recent seasons. The lifts opened on 15 December, and the season continued until 21 April 2024.

❄️ 2022/23 season — 13 January 2023
This was a very unusual winter with little natural snow in December. Although the lifts started operating on 27 December, skiing became possible from 13 January, mainly thanks to artificial snow.

❄️ 2020/21 season — 8 March 2021
Snow conditions were good, but the season opening was delayed because of COVID-related restrictions. The resort remained open until 26 April.

👉 So, what can you expect?

🎿 Gudauri usually starts the ski season around mid to late December.
❄️ In some years, skiing begins earlier.
🌨️ In other years, it can be delayed.
🏔️ The most important factor is always snow and weather conditions.

If you’re planning your Georgia winter trip, December, January, February and March are the main months to consider for skiing in Gudauri. 🇬🇪🎿
