My attempt to recreate this black-and-white photo I've been seeing all over social media lately.

There was actually a queue to get this snap – I had no idea it was such a popular spot!

After hearing so many positive reviews, I was very excited to try out the new-ish AMO • ამო on Kakabadze Street.

There are only a couple of restaurants in this part of Mtatsminda (so far) – the view is obviously spectacular, probably the best restaurant view in Tbilisi in my opinion. As well as having a big terrace, two of the dining spaces have retractable roofs so when it's not too cold (or windy) you can sit 'outside' and be fully immersed in the cityscape.

Unfortunately this was our second lunch of the day (that often happens when I'm in Tbilisi), so we only had room for a couple of dishes. The Amo Kebabi (beef/lamb kebab with pillowy flatbread and a Korean-style spicy sauce) was the highlight, and I would 100% go back just to order it again. The cocktails are also very good.

Online reservations, a maitre d to greet you, attentive service, and a post-visit thank-you email. All in all it was a wonderful dining experience 👏

New breakfast spot in Tbilisi —

CO:CO Coffee Collective opened this April inside one of the restored houses off Gudiashvili Square (2 M. Lermontovi Street). I love the design, especially the balcony and courtyard space.

We tried the Rosti Basket and the Hot Honey Eggs for breakfast. Service was fast, and both dishes were very tasty (portions are on the smaller side, though).

Is it just me, or is focaccia bread absolutely everywhere in Tbilisi right now?! Is this the next food trend?

A beautiful April day in Tbilisi – blue skies, a touch of green on the hills, and a few people out and about exploring the Old Town.

You'll notice that Narikala Fortress is still covered in scaffolding – the inside of the castle remains closed for reconstruction (you can still ride the cable car up and walk around the perimeter of the fortress, but you can't go inside).

My camera doesn't capture the colour perfectly, but this wisteria vine in Old Tbilisi is absolutely divine!

I remember photographing it last year and I'm so pleased I caught it in bloom again this spring.

The beautiful Holy Mother Virgin Nativity Cathedral in Batumi, one of Georgia's few Gothic-style churches.

It was built as a Catholic church in 1898-1903, which is why it has stained glass windows – something you almost never see in Georgian Orthodox churches.

This might come as a surprise, but I think Batumi is one of the most inspiring places in Georgia.

It's a city I sometimes come to to 'recharge' if I'm not feeling very creative. Maybe it's the contrasts in the architecture, or the fact that there's so much change going on, or just the moody weather – but it's such a satisfying place to photograph.
