«The road to the Truso Valley itself runs through a gorge along the very fast-flowing Tergi River.
It takes about an hour. The trip requires a special Delica vehicle. It’s powerful and narrow, easily navigating the mountain roads, which are full of uneven surfaces and rocks. Arriving in the valley, we climbed a narrow hiking trail that runs to the right above the river, offering picturesque mountain views. This trail takes about 10 minutes, and then descends to a stunning small blue lake with mineral water. We even dared to try it; it tasted very unusual,
carbonated and very cold. This lake is 95 meters deep. You can take beautiful photos next to the water and on a rock above it. After the lake, we continued walking along the river, on the right side. The air there is wonderful, and horses are grazing nearby. On the other side of the river is an ancient village, the houses almost in ruins, almost half a century old. The weather was beautiful, and so we reached the monastery, which is quite small and stands on a hill. Along the way, high in the mountains, we saw huge flocks of sheep, which looked like tiny pebbles at such an altitude. Then there was another small village, which even had a small cafe and a guesthouse. Our journey ended in the ruins of an old fortress on a mountain, which stands very close to the border with Ossetia. This day left unforgettable impressions, and, of course, dozens of photos to remember it by.»
