The first stop is in the regional capital of Kakheti: Telavi. This lovely little town has a fortress (XVIII c.), 900-year-old plain tree and then take pictures next to the beautiful statue of Erekle II (XVIII century king of Eastern Georgia) with some stunning views of the Caucasian mountains in the background. The trip continues in Gremi (XVIth century complex+museum and once the capital of Kakheti) and finishes in Khareba Winery (located in Kvareli, about 19 km from Gremi). Here you can taste some of the best Georgian wines and a famous chacha (strong, vodka type drink made from the grapes); bake your own bread and make the traditional Georgian dessert – churchkhela (walnuts+grape juice). Towards the end of the tour at the winery, you can purchase some of the Georgian wine, brandy or chacha bottles to take with you.

Explore XVI-XVIII century Ananuri fortress (UNESCO world heritage site) that stands to this day next to the Jhinvali reservoir. The complex has two churches with some interesting frescoes (wall paintings), watchtowers and a secret passage that leads down to the river.
