The bourgeois revolution in Russia in 1917 led to the overthrow of the monarchy and the collapse of the empire. At the same time, the National Council was established in Georgia, which, in fact, ruled the country. On May 26, 1918, on Golovin (Rustaveli) Avenue in Tbilisi, at 4:50 pm, the National Council of Georgia declared the Act of Independence of Georgia, the first paragraph of which stated exactly what many Georgians dreamed of: “From now on, Georgia possesses sovereign rights and it is a fully independent country!”
Congratulations! This is the day when the Georgians defeated the domination of foreigners and gained national identity as a result of great self-sacrifice and heroic struggle!

1917 წლის რუსეთში მომხდარ ბურჟუაზიულ რევოლუციას მონარქიის დამხობა და იმპერიის დაშლა მოჰყვა. საქართველოში ამავე პერიოდში შეიქმნა ეროვნული საბჭო, რომელიც, ფაქტობრივად, ქვეყანას მართავდა. 1918 წლის 26 მაისს თბილისში, გოლოვინის( რუსთაველის) პროსპექტზე მეფისნაცვლის სასახლეში ნაშუადღევის 16 საათსა და 50 წუთზე "ეროვნულმა საბჭომ" მიიღო საქართველოს დამოუკიდებლობის აქტი, რომლის პირველ პუნქტში გაცხადებული იყო სწორედ ის, რაზეც არაერთი ქართველი ოცნებობდა: „ამიერიდან საქართველოს ხალხი სუვერენულ უფლებათა მატარებელია და საქართველო სრულუფლებიანი დამოუკიდებელი სახელმწიფოა“
