On Ghana today, we would like to acknowledge one of Ghana's most remarkable festivals called the 'Asafotufiam' Festival. This festival is celebrated by the Ada people of Ghana in the first week of August.

The name 'Asafotufiam' was derived from the word 'Asafotufiami,' which means 'Divisional Firing of Musketry’ in Dangme language.

The people of Ada are known for their keen role in grooming great warriors who fought bravely to defend their tribe. The 'Asafotufiam' Festival was therefore celebrated to welcome them home after every war. It's still celebrated in recent times to honour the founding fathers and ancestors of the land.

Where are you from and which festival do you celebrate? Share with us...
