If you have immigration permissions to be in Guernsey, and are travelling back into the UK or islands, airlines, rail or ferry operators may look to check certain documentation when you are boarding.

The Guernsey Customs & Immigration Service, like the other crown dependencies, issues its own permissions and status documents. It is recommended that you carry any documentation that may prove your status.

A permission issued is valid for travel and will be in the form of one of the following:

🔸Vignette (UK Visas and Immigration sticker placed in passport)
🔸Wet ink stamp
🔸Status letter for permission under the Guernsey EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS)

Should you hold one of the above permissions and have problems when travelling, you can ask the carrier to contact the UK’s Carrier Support Hub who should be able to verify your status.

Some of you think a visa refusal is a spiritual issue and that you need to see your pastor about it. That’s not the case.

🚨✈️ Important update for dual British citizens travelling to the UK.

From 25 February 2026, dual British citizens must present either a British passport or Certificate of Entitlement when travelling to the UK.

Without one, carriers cannot verify they are a British citizen, which may lead to delays or denied boarding.

This is required for all British citizens, regardless of other nationalities.

From February 25, visitors who require clearance to enter the United Kingdom will be issued electronic visas only, ending the use of physical immigration documents. The UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) said successful applicants will receive a digital immigration status, known as an eVisa, instead of biometric residence permits or visa stickers in passports. The system will also replace biometric residence cards and other paper-based documents. eVisas will be linked to the traveller’s passport and stored online. Applicants must create a free UKVI account to access and manage their eVisa before travelling. They can also generate a share code to prove their immigration status when required.

Amid travel warnings and penalties affecting some African countries, a positive development has emerged for Ghanaian travelers. The United States Embassy in Ghana has released more than 1,000 new B1/B2 visa interview appointments for those seeking to travel to the US for business or tourism. Ghana, exempted from the recent $15,000 US visa bond policy, will have the non-immigrant slots available within the next week, according to the embassy’s official X page.
