Feel Free Eco Lodge is a small solar lodge beside a quiet, untouched beach on Jinack Island. Here the river meets the ocean, and life moves slowly. We offer simple rooms, nature trips, fishing, birdwatching and a chance to be part of something good.

When guests come, the lodge earns income. This income gives work to local people and supports families. Any profit goes to girls’ education and community projects. When children learn and families have hope, the whole island becomes stronger.

We want to share some good news with you all.

Feel Free Eco Lodge has finished the Yokuté Accelerator Programme in The Gambia. This programme is supported by the World Bank and helps small tourism businesses grow.

When we started on Jinack Island, it was only a small idea from Sherrifo and his supporters, focused on community and simple, honest tourism. Now it has been recognised at a national level.

This means our guests stay with a lodge that is trusted. Our partners know we are growing. And our supporters can see that our work fits with national development plans.

We are happy, but this is not the end. We will continue to work on eco‑tourism, community projects and education on Jinack Island. Our goal is to build something sustainable that helps local people and gives visitors real, meaningful experiences.

Improving Girls’ Education, Life Skills & Job Prospects In Gambia

When thinking about girls’ education in Gambia, there’s nothing wrong with picturing happy smiling faces in primary schools. But to really help young girls in Africa to succeed in life, this will not be enough.

We need to pay equal attention to what happens before and after primary school if we are to increase the benefits of educating girls. We need to also think about how to improve job prospects by enhancing life skills and boosting self confidence and self esteem.

Girls and young women entering the 21st century job market will need skills and knowledge that can be added to, fine tuned and developed throughout their lifetime. They need our support at every step along the way. Give a girl an education and watch her change everything around her.
