RECAP 🌊 LONG DISTANCE | From Plaka to Lake Voulismeni

One of the most spectacular days of AGIOS NIKOLAOS ON SUP 2026 brought together endurance, strategy, downwind racing and an unforgettable route through the Gulf of Mirabello.

More than 160 athletes from 21 countries took part in the Long Distance, starting from Plaka Beach, racing with Spinalonga in the background and finishing at Lake Voulismeni, in the heart of Agios Nikolaos.

One month to go until Agios Nikolaos 2026

The countdown is on for the 2026 Paddle Europe Stand Up Paddling Championships, taking place in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, from 18–20 September.

Already 119 athletes from 22 countries are on the nominal list, including reigning World Champions, World Championship medallists and several athletes who won medals at the inaugural European SUP Championships in Szeged 2024.

Sprint, Technical and Long Distance racing will bring Europe’s best SUP athletes together in one of Crete’s most spectacular coastal settings.

Fourni is actually three villages woven together - Kastelli, Kato Chorio and Pano Chorio - each one sitting quietly at 320 metres, each one feeling like somewhere time agreed to pause.

Save this one for your next slow afternoon, whether you're staying in Elounda or Agios Nikolaos.

TIP: Take the road from Kastelli down to Kato Chorio - 400 metres of eucalyptus and cypress closing in overhead. You'll want to drive it slowly 🌳
