October 7th: A Day to Discover Corfu

Our Corfu day is almost upon us.

On the 7th of October, our guests arriving in Corfu will be treated to a full day of discovery, blending the island's countryside, vineyards, and historic old town into one seamless experience. The day combines a fantastic E-Bike ride or shuttle journey out to a local vineyard for wine tasting, a relaxed picnic, and a guided walking tour through Corfu's UNESCO-listed old town, all designed to give a taste of the island in a single day.

Three Concurrent Programmes

To make the day run smoothly for everyone involved, the experience is split into three guided programmes, A, B and C, each following the same highlights but in a different order. We gather at the Cruise Terminal in the morning, where the tour leader gives a briefing of the day’s programme. In the middle of the day, everyone comes together for a shared picnic at the famous Esplanade Park. Here, we lay out local food such as delicious Greek salad, local cheese, and something refreshing to drink.

Programme A begins with the ride out towards Ambelonas Vineyard for a proper wine tasting, sampling local wines – such as the red “Skopelitiko” wine and the white “Kakotrigis” wine - with pairings, followed by the picnic and the historical walking tour, with some free time in the old town to round things off. Programme B starts instead with the walking tour, moves on to the picnic, and finishes with the ride out to the vineyard in the afternoon. Programme C offers an alternative for those who prefer not to cycle, travelling to the vineyard by shuttle before joining the picnic and the walking tour later in the day.

Looking After Every Guest

What matters most to us is providing a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for everyone. At the start of the day, each participant receives a water bottle, a yellow jersey, and a helmet. The bikes are in excellent condition. Throughout the tour, our locally experienced guides lead the group from both the front and the back. This Corfu day is guaranteed to leave with a smile on their face. We are excited to organise this Corfu day again in the future.

See you soon,

Are you a wine connoisseur with just one day in Argostoli? Then the Argostoli Walking Wine Tour is made for you!

We set off from the Cruise Ship Terminal and make our way straight into town, passing the oldest house of Kefalonia, Kosmetatos Residence, on the way. From there, we walk on to Platia Vallianou, the lively main square of Argostoli, where we take a little time to soak up the atmosphere.

Next, we wander into the shade of Napier Park, a green pocket of calm right in the middle of town, before passing by the Corgialenos Library, home to fascinating glimpses of the island's past. From here we continue to Kampana Square, one of Argostoli's characterful little corners, before making our way to the Sea Turtle Viewpoint. If we are fortunate, we might spot one of the harbour's resident Caretta Caretta turtles surfacing for air.

Then we arrive at the De Bosset Bridge, the longest stone bridge overseas, stretching out across the bay with views worth lingering over. We pass the ‘I Love Kefalonia’ sign at the port where we can make a memorable picture, before arriving at our final and most anticipated stop: the Vine growers of Robola, where we do the wine tasting.

This is where we really get to know Kefalonia: through its wine. On this island, wine is woven into daily life and history, and this stop is where that comes alive. Settle in for a professional 6-flight wine tasting, with food pairings, and taste your way through the island's finest varieties, including the crisp, mineral Robola, grown high on the slopes of Mount Ainos, and the deep, sweet Mavrodaphne. Are you curious to take a bottle home or to bring one for the road? There's plenty of time to browse and purchase your favourites to enjoy later, wherever that may be.

With a happy glow and a new dimension to Kefalonian wine, we make our way back to the Cruise Ship Terminal, the bay glittering beside us as the tour comes to a relaxed close.

The tour runs twice a day, at 12:00 AM and 02:30 PM, and takes 2.5 hours from start to finish

Argostoli: The Walking Wine Tour

Are you a wine connoisseur with just one day in Argostoli? Then this tour is made for you!

Do you have only one day to visit Argostoli, but still want to taste Kefalonia's iconic wines and get a feel for the island's culture and history? Then this two-and-a-half-hour tour is for you.

The tour runs twice a day, at 12:00 AM and 02:30 PM, and takes 2.5 hours from start to finish. You will be guided by an experienced Dutch or English tour guide. We will be kept refreshed with a bottle of water, and accompanied throughout by a professional photographer. The pictures will be available later.

Would you rather explore the same route on two wheels? Discover Argostoli's highlights and its wines a little more actively on The Wine E-Bike Tour.

Do you fancy doing this tour privately, just you and your group, at your own pace? We offer private tours on request, simply get in touch and we'll take care of the rest.

A walk through Argostoli, a glass of Robola, and always the sea close by. It doesn't get much more Kefalonian than that.

The Argostoli Highlights Bike Tour begins at the turtle viewpoint, one of our favourite spots to start the day, where we watch the Caretta caretta turtles moving gently through the harbour. One particularly large turtle has tucked itself under a boat, seeking out the cooler water in its shade, and the guests are absolutely delighted, cameras out, leaning over for a better look. It is always a wonderful way to begin a tour, watching people's faces light up at their first proper encounter with these gentle creatures.

From there, the group cycles on to the oldest house still standing in Argostoli, one of the few buildings to have survived the devastating 1953 earthquake. There are beautiful pink flowers on the trees near the house. The guide takes a moment to explain just how important this building is. Both historically and culturally. Throughout the entire tour, the guests are intrigued by how the earthquake really does run through the whole island like a thread, shaping so much of what they see and so many of the stories shared along the way. Standing in front of a building that somehow made it through always brings that history to life in a way that words only cannot.

We treat ourselves to a scoop of locally-made pistachio ice cream, which is every bit as refreshing as it sounds after a warm morning in the saddle. We take a short walk around the charming vegetable market to eat the ice cream in the cooling shade.

A wonderful cooling breeze keeps everyone comfortable the entire way across the famous Bosset Bridge, even with the warmth of the day building around us. Along the route, another highlight of this tour is the lighthouse of Saint Theodore. This catches everyone's attention because this lighthouse's style is very different from the lighthouses back home in the Netherlands. The sight at this lighthouse is so breathtaking that we take a picture of the guests here with their phones.

Full of energy and with the breeze still on our backs, we make our way back to the meeting point. As we wrap up the tour, the smiles on everyone's faces say it all. This is our goal as a tour agency: to make people smile.

Zeus

The hot weather of the past few days, combined with 40% humidity here on the island, has led us to adjust our tours over the last few days. We now start daily either early in the morning or after 5:00 PM in the late afternoon, we offer extra sunscreen, we bring more water along on the tour, we make an extra stop for a refreshing piece of watermelon, and we cycle along the coast as much as possible.

Today the day starts with repair work by Zeus, the sureme god of Greek Mythology and master of the weather. We have a light thunderstorm, a splash of rain, and the temperature drops to a very pleasant 23 degrees. In other words, ideal conditions to discover Kefalonia with a fun cycling tour with a Dutch-speaking guide.

The season for perfect ocean-side fun is here! During high season, the temperatures in Kefalonia can rise quickly. No plans to stay cool yet?

Don’t worry, we got you.

Start the day with a relaxed bike tour along the coast, taking in the pleasant breeze and the highlights of Argostoli. We stop several times to cool off, including for refreshing ice cream, and we cycle across the De Bosset Bridge.

Another option is a relaxed kayak tour at sea from Argostoli to Minies with an experienced guide is a great way to cool off. We stop at beautiful spots, including caves and bays, combined with a tasty snack.

After the tour, it is time for a fresh lunch and drink at a Greek tavern, while taking in the sea view.

In the afternoon, it is fun to rent a boat, for which you don’t need a license. Depart from the harbour and explore the bay of Argostoli. Sail along the coast to the White Rocks, and stop off at Vardiani Island along the way. Xi Beach is also within reach. On the way back, you pass the symbolic Saint Theodore lighthouse.

Or drive to Costa Costa Beach and enjoy beach and water activities. Such as jet skiing, water skiing, banana boat rides behind the speedboat, pedal boats, or simply swimming. There is also a beach bar for a cooling drink.

Do you fancy a catamaran experience with a captain? At the end of the afternoon, the Sundown Tour — Included are refreshing drinks, kayaking with transparent kayaks, paddle boards and visits to hidden beaches — departs from Livadi. The departure point is easy to reach by taking the car ferry from Argostoli to Lixouri.

Finally, our Argostoli Dine & Bike Tour leads along the coast and through the forest. We visit a local tavern for the starter and a drink, cycle to a fish restaurant for the main course — fish, meat, or vegetarian — and enjoy a refreshing gelato at Argostoli's central square.

Yasas!
